Howells Cottage

Fabulous little cottage right in the heart of Monmouth, with both Waitrose and M&S Food a stone's throw away. While central, the location is quiet. Plenty of green space nearby if you're travelling with a dog. We stayed during a baking hot weekend and kept cool. The downstairs enjoys a tiled floor (which the dog loved) and the bedroom stayed cool with a fan. Being an old cottage, it'll also have thicker walls to keep heat out. The kitchen is well-equipped for a weekend stay with a good-sized fridge and freezer. We'd certainly stay here again and recommend it to others.

Slight issue getting the key safe code. The owner only sends it to you on the morning of your stay (I emailed asking for it the night before). She apparently replied to my email via booking.com, but it never arrived. Various phone calls and texts the following day (and a coffee shop delay after our check-in time as we wondered what to do next) and the owner phoned back with the code. I believe her mobile signal had experienced problems as well (which could also explain the missing email). I'm sure this was a one-off, and we had a lovely weekend in a great cottage. I'd simply suggest a more robust system to get the key code :-)
