About this house rental

If you are staying on Kauai there is not a better location then right in Hanalei. Voted one of the top beaches in the world it truly is one of the most beautiful places you will ever visit. As for homes in Hanalei, you will not find any home like this one. A custom 4500 square foot home with very unique woodwork and artistic funky flair. The open upstairs floor plan is a wide open area of 2400 square feet (the living room is larger than most homes in Hanalei). Custom Ohi'a beams and Tiki carved beams throughout the house accentuate the Island paradise. The house also incorporates lava rock in various locations and kids love the Pirates of the Caribbean like theme. Located on a very quiet cul-de-sac in the heart or Hanalei. This is a prime location, just 700 feet from the world class beach of Hanalei bay and equally close to the town center of Hanalei. The house is at the end of a long driveway set away from the street. Listen to the crashing winter surf, or island birds just outside your window. Partial ocean views from the back deck, and great mountain & waterfall views from the kitchen and living room. We stayed with our children and grandchildren. The space is designed for gathering and personal space. There is no air conditioning but with the fans and windows, it was very pleasant and preferred. The photos do not do the house justice—wonderfully designed space for all. We all hope to return.

Great location, super close to Hanalei Bay, which is amazing. House is very cool. Well equipped with chairs, a beach wagon, and an umbrella. Overall a good stay but given how expensive it is, there are some nuances that made us not give it a 5 star review. First, I think generally the owners have good intentions but they're not professional property managers and it shows.There is an infestation of ghost ants in the kitchen and you have to store all food in the microwave or fridge. Apparently this is common practice on the island, but we lost a lot of food we had bought because the owner didn't tell us this. We woke up to lots of tiny ants all in our cereal, cracker, and cookie boxes. Gross. The required check out process is also unnecessarily burdensome on guests. The owners could easily buy a second set of towels/linens/etc. and have the cleaners wash them offsite but instead they require the guests do multiple loads of laundry (wash, dry, and fold). It took hours to do everything, cutting into the remaining vacation. The pillows are flimsy and need to be replaced. While the house is very unique, it is also a bit weird and unsafe. You have to walk up and down steep tiled steps to get into the master shower. I'm 7 months pregnant and felt uneasy doing this, I would imagine this would be a slip/fall hazard for anyone elderly. You're paying a premium for the fact that there are is not a large supply of houses in this area. For us, it was still probably worth it.

We had a wonderful stay at the Tiki home! There were 2 families age ranges from 8 months to 8 yrs… the big open floor plan up on top was great for kids to have room to play. All bedrooms were downstairs which is great if you need some separation for naps etc. and house was outfitted with everything you need for the beach which was very convenient. Hanalei is magical and the house worked very well for us!

Our party of seven adults enjoyed the Tiki House from the first minutes of our arrival. We had so much room on the ground floor where the bedrooms, two baths, and the laundry room were. The top floor with its many seating areas, tables and well-equipped kitchen made our relaxing and cooking lots of fun. The views from upstairs complemented Hanalei's natural spenders and watching the birds hovering and landing around the feed was always delightful.We had a great time walking and biking to the beach. Thanks Greg for the beach chairs, bikes and handy beach towels. We found everything we wanted.

The tiki house is a very personally crafted spacious home, with everything you need for your Hanalei stay. The location is ideal, a 5 minute walk to the beach and at the most a 10 minute walk into town. The host was always helpful and responsive. Our family of 6 adults never felt crowded. A well designed kitchen made it a pleasure to prepare meals together. The beds are super comfy.

We had such a wonderful thanksgiving vacation at the tiki home with our family! The upstairs is very spacious and was great for the babies to play around. The large windows and open floor plan make it feel like a jungle house. The kitchen was well equipped for making meals. The best part was the bikes and beach equipment making it super easy to bike down to the beach and enjoy!! Also great to be within walking distance of the grocery and restaurants. We will be coming back! Greg was also incredibly kind and responsive!

We were awed by the Tiki house and its unique furnishings. At first we thought....whoa, such a huge space. But, our family of eight settled in comfortably, enjoyed the 5 minute walk to the beach, the beach toys, the cruiser bikes, and all the magic that comes with being in North shore, Kauai. The location of the house was perfectly situated to walk to the beach or town. Open upstairs level meant our family could spend lots of quality time together. Loved that there were adequate hoses to wash off sandy feet before coming into the house. Lots of beach chairs, coolers, towels, and a wagon to bring it to the beach. Also helpful was water to refill our water bottles. Beds were comfy, fans helped us stay cooler at night. Water pressure was great in the showers. It was a unique experience in a uniquely beautiful home!

There's really no other house in the area like this. Such a unique layout and vibe, and you're fully surrounded by trees and sunlight on the gigantic 2nd floor. Plus you're only a short walk from the beach and town if you don't want to drive. Top of our list for the next time we're back in Hanalei.

Our family of six just stayed at the Tiki Home for seven nights. It was wonderful. There was plenty of space, which allowed us to all spread out. The four bedrooms are all downstairs (with a huge primary bedroom!), and the upstairs is completely open - the kitchen, dining area, and multiple living areas, along with an office area and workout area. I had to work early some mornings, and the layout of the home allowed me to go upstairs and work without disturbing everyone else. No air conditioning, but that was not an issue at all; with the windows open and the many ceiling fans going, it was actually a bit cool in the mornings. The location was perfect. Easy five-minute walk to the beach or to the supermarket/shops/restaurants. Communication with the owner and property manager was quick and easy. We highly recommend!

This house has a very different look to it than most places in hanalei and we really enjoyed the vibe. Very open with high ceilings, and nice views from the big windows. Greg was very quick to respond when I had questions, and check in was easy. Great outdoor shower, and lots of beach equipment provided. Solidly located in terms of walking to the beach and into town. Highly recommend, particularly if you have a bigger group.

This is our 2nd time back the Tiki House. Everything about this place is awesome. Location to town, Hanalei Bay Beach, hiking. We have fallen in love with town. We will definitely be renting again next year. Communication is great and the place is very clean. They have bikes and tons of beach gear to make the trip extra nice.

We love this house. Obviously there are critters. Carpenter bees, roaches and some critter in the north west corner of the kitchen island that was leaving a dark dust on the floor. Those concerns are more for the owners because we wouldn’t want anything to destroy this house. Hope to come back often.

The house was larger than expected. We had two kids under three and there were expandable gates for the top of stairs. Bikes were a plus for the small town of Hanalei. The kitchen was well outfitted with quality equipment. The house was warm, but fans helped. We would highly recommend house shoes as a must. Those floors are hard! We throughly enjoyed the stay (and our daily visits from the birds, thanks to the birdseed provided).

We did a one week stay with our kids and grandkids. The house is unique and the best equipped rental we have ever stayed in and we have stayed in many! Very good for cooking, dining, and lounging. Lots of bikes and a short ride or walk to beach. Perfect!

Beautiful home with massive living/dining/ family room space. Well equipped kitchen. Short walk to beach. Short walk to town. Bring earplugs for roosters. Lack of AC might be an issue for some. Many many fans works just fine for us.

A space for everyone in the group. This home was perfect for the whole family to spread out. The bedrooms are on the first floor to allow late sleepers to enjoy extra time while the early risers can make coffee and enjoy listening to all the wild life. The view from the kitchen window is stunning. We loved the use of the bikes to be able to ride down to the beach access or take them to town just a few minutes away. We all fell in love with Hanalei Bay. Communication was great throughout the whole process.
