House was in a great location and very nice. No air conditioning in 1st floor common areas. Management company communicated well, but was unable to get a repair service out during our stay. There were some other electrical issues. They brought in fans. 7 days in Hawaii with no AC in common areas. Paid a lot for our stay and they offered a $411 refund. Terrible!

This home was so absolutely perfect for our once-in-a-lifetime family vacation - I can't say enough good things about it! My husband and I were joined by my daughter, her husband, their two toddlers, and the other grandmother. The home allowed for everyone to have the space they needed and the dining and living room were perfect for all of us to hang out together. My son-in-law likes to cook and the kitchen was a chef's dream. While there was some noise from the nearby restaurants and food trucks, the proximity to Hanalei town was so worth it! And of course being just a couple of blocks from the beach was great. The owners provided everything we needed for the kids at the beach and town trips, including a wagon they could travel in. And there were two sets of washing machines & dryers, which with toddlers, we made good use of. The other grandma made good use of one of the bikes and was thrilled not to have to drive anywhere. If you are looking for a great family home for your Hanalei vacation, this is a wonderful home and I don't think you will be disappointed.

It is a beautiful, well-maintained home. Everything we needed was provided: 5 roomy bedrooms, 4.5 baths, a large living room, 4 lanais, plus 2 washers and 2 dryers!! There were plenty of great beach chairs, umbrellas, and a large canopy for the beach. There were also surf boards, boogie boards, and bicycles. The house was beautiful, even better than the pictures show, and it was very clean. Even better--the location!! We LOVED being so close to shopping, restaurants, and beautiful Hanalei Beach!! It was so convenient to everything! Some things our group did: hiked the Kalalau Trail, visited Waimea Canyon, rode the Plantation Railway, kayaked the Hanalei River, toured the awesome north coastline with Na Pali Catamaran. We enjoyed shopping and loved the food nearby, from food trucks to shave ice. The staff at Makana Kauai was wonderful, especially Sarah. My son-in-law forgot his wedding band at the house. And before he knew he'd left it, I had an email from their office with a picture of the ring, asking where they should ship it to get it back to him! From almost 5,000 miles away, he had it back in just a few days! We're so grateful for this great team!! Hanalei is awesome and totally stole our hearts! This is the perfect home to experience the aloha!! Cannot wait to come back!! Thank you Makana Kauai for our favorite vacation spot ever!!

We loved our stay at this home in Hanalei! We travel to Kauai multiple times a year and this is one of our favorite rentals ever. I was worried the location was not going to be as close as we like to be to the beach but it turns out this is actually now our preferrred location! So private, close to town AND close to the beach. The house had everything we needed and was so comfortable for our family. The 6 bikes in the garage were so fun to ride around and the air conditioning was a treat! The property management were easy to get a hold of and very helpful. The house was clean and had a well stocked kitchen. We will absolutely rent this house again.

This home was spectacular in every way, even better than the pictures. We walked in and everyone just said "wow!" The views out of every window are lush and tropical, the house was spotless with a comfortable yet luxurious feel. Very spacious and completely stocked with everything you could possibly need. The beds are the most comfortable vacation rental beds I've ever slept in, and the AC units kept the house at the perfect temperature. The location is prime - you are on the street behind all the shops and restaurants (no noise at all though) and a short 2 min bike ride to a very nice and private section of Hanalei Bay. There are 6 bikes, tons of chairs, surfboards, snorkel equipment, etc. Communication with the property management company was top notch, they were very responsive to every question. When we come to Kauai, we usually spend most of our time in Poipu and stay a few nights on the north shore. After this stay, we will forever come back here for the duration of our stay. This area is just amazing - relaxing, laid back and gorgeous! Look no further if you are on the fence on where to stay!

There are 2 upstairs suites with their own patios and 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms downstairs with a separate interior door to that area. Our oldest son and his 2 kids were able to close off that area so when they got up early they could make noise and not bother the rest of us.We made a lot of use of the covered patio by the family room as it rained more than we expected. We could be outside on the lounge or on the large daybed so we could be with the 2 grandkids and the baby and stay dry. We realized that we should have brought more indoor activities for the kids for the times it rained. The house was in a great location for picking up food and getting to the beach. We were pleasantly surprised at the amount of nice beach towels they provided and all the beach accessories (snorkels and masks, goggles, beach umbrellas, beach chairs, cooler, boogie boards, surfboards bicycles and a wagon to haul everything to the beach which was an easy walk or ride. The outdoor shower was terrific. The kitchen had all the appliances needed and plenty of plates, utensils and pots and pans. Two washers and dryers were a real treat.The house has a pack and play which the company set up and sanitized for $25. We rented a booster seat from Babylicious to use and then found one in a closet that was perfect for our 18 month old granddaughter. Check with the company about using it.When we go back to Hanalei, it will be to stay at this wonderful house.

The location of this home is great because it’s a 1-2 minute walk into town to pick up food and drinks or eat at restaurants. The home has beautiful Brazilian hardwood floors and home furnishings. And, it has Toto toilets in every bathroom — definitely a conversation starter that provided lots of laughter in our family!! :) And even though we didn’t technically use them, it also has Tesla Powerwalls in the garage so you can tell that someone has put their time, money and care into this home. One of our favorite parts of this house was all the great gear it comes with - 7 beach cruisers, 4 surfboards, a couple body boards, beach wagon, umbrellas and more. The beach cruisers made it so easy to ride to Hanalei Bay (1-2 minute bike ride) and enjoy one of the most beautiful beaches in the world multiple times per day (i.e. a morning sunrise walk, midday with the kids and beautiful sunsets to end the day). The outdoor shower is also awesome and was so helpful after our days at the beach and our muddy hikes on the Kalalau Trail and the ʻŌkolehao Trail. Makana Kauai Properties was great to work with and super responsive to all our questions/requests. We had so much fun at this home and would highly recommend staying at Hanalei Ohana.

The property was clean, large and well stocked. Each room was spectacular in its own way and everyone had their own space and bathroom. It came with beach toys, bikes, and other outdoor toys. The walkability was unbeatable. We got up every morning and walked for coffee and took it down to the beach to enjoy. Afternoon was spent checking out the shops and the evening we could walk to dinner. Stay here!

This house is spacious and very well appointed and provisioned. The garden is also beautiful. Hanalei Bay is a few blocks away and has lovely swimming, beach walking, swimming, and kayaking opportunities. I would definitely recommend this property and would rent it again.

We very much enjoyed our stay as a multi-generational family. It was so nice to have all the bedroom suites plus the “kids room”. The living and dining rooms have plenty of space and all of the little lanais off of the bedrooms and living room are lovely spots to relax. One of the bedrooms upstairs has a massive walk-in closet that was perfect for the pack-n-play (just keep the closet door open for ventilation). It was also so wonderful to be able to walk a short distance to the beach. One downside is that the kitchen isn’t the best for multiple people to be using but otherwise is well stocked with pots, pans and everything you’d need. The other downside is the backyard is right across from the food truck loop so there is a bit of noise.

This could not be in a better spot. Quiet neighborhood, friendly neighbors, short walk or bike ride to the beach, walk to restaurants, juice, and snow cones! AC in the house was excellent, all appliances worked, beds were comfy, and they provided all the beach essentials (chairs, boogie boards, sand toys, surf boards, etc). 10/10 recommend!

Make a was a pleasure to work with and the home was ideal. The hone owners had everything you need. Bikes, surfboards, beach towels and anything else you can think of. The neighborhood is 2 minutes from Hanalei Center and 5 minutes from 3 beautiful beaches. Don't let the road closure concern you either. We stayed for two weeks and it had little impact. Definitely would do it again.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a great time on our vacation in Haneli! This is the third time we have rented a house in Haneli! We had a few problems at this home. Someone broke into the side door at night and stole a backpack (we found the backpack under the bushes emptied out). We also normally have chairs, umbrellas etc for the beach but most of what they had was broken. We bought and left chairs and umbrellas. We also didn't have AC in the house or bedrooms and it was hot at night. The toaster was in flames when we tried to use it. The home is beautiful and close to town and the beach.
