About this house rental
Down River Inn is a beautiful vacation rental in Harpers Ferry. We have 4 other nearby full vacation rental homes in Harpers Ferry and have been hosting visitors since 2011. Conveniently located in a semi-rural neighborhood setting with large yard, hot tub, fire pit and large field in the back. The home has cable internet and wifi and free off-street parking.
Slope side home in the winter months to Snow Riders which allows for excellent access to the tubing runs. Lights and potentially other guests on the slope may be seen from the home.
Info on the heat and air conditioning:
1 On cool nights, there is a gas stove in the living room for your enjoyment. Please only run the gas stove when you are in the living room. It is warm enough that the regular house central air will not turn on and the rest of the house may get cold if left running.
2 There is a thermostat in the hallway for the main level and upstairs heat and air conditioning. Vents can also be adjusted if it is too hot or cold in the upstairs vs main floor.
3 the basement has 2 thermostats - 1 for a/c on the far wall and one for the baseboard heat on the left wall. Please only turn on one at a time or they will “compete” with each other.
4 there is a thermostat in the basement hall and utility room that we generally left on 60 because it would be really hot in that area if not.
5 if the dehumidifier in the basement says P2, it is full, please empty in the bath tub.

The entire stay was fabulous. The house was perfect for our first mother/daughter weekend. The fire pit was an added bonus on a cool Fall evening. I would highly recommend this property.

We loved our stay! The house is spread out, giving lots of room, but is still homey and cozy. We cooked several meals in the kitchen and had everything we needed. The hot tub is a perfect addition to the space! After long days of exploration and hiking, the hot tub was a welcome relief for our sore muscles! All of the beds were very comfortable and there were extra blankets on every couch and bed which was also a really nice touch. I would absolutely stay here again and would recommend it to everyone!

The house was very clean and well maintained. It is the perfect place to stay for a trip to Harpers Ferry and is a short drive to Charles Town, Shepherdstown and the Antietam Battlefield.
