The Coach House looks pretty from the outside and is pretty inside too. I had drawn my 6'3" husband's attention to the online photos showing the low ceilings in the bedroom and he was confident he could manage....which he did! But he did have to be careful and we were glad of the thoughtful plug-in 'dusk till dawn' nightlight above the stairs. The kitchen is small but seems to have everything you would need .We didn't find a cafetiere but that doesn't mean there wasn't one there.....the pots and pans are tucked away at the side of the sink cupboard and I didn't really want to rummage and mess it up......There is space to sit outside and in the summerhouse but when we were at the cottage, which was only in the evenings, we were watching the Olympics in the very comfortable living area which was our favourite part of the cottage. A sofa each to lounge in and a table each for wine! There is a pub across the road which we were too tired to visit on the Sunday we arrived. Unfortunately it was closed on the Monday and friends had booked us into the Talbot Hotel in Malton to eat on the Tuesday. So we didn't get to try the pub which was tragic! Some things to note.....not many places are open to eat on Monday and Tuesday evenings. We went to Malton on Monday afternoon and found most of it closed! We picked up nibbly bits from Morrisons and took it back to the cottage. Our friends had struggled to find a pub for the Tuesday evening which is why we went to the Talbot Hotel. Which turned out to be very pleasant. Reasonably good food in a very lovely setting. From the cottage , we visited Castle Howard and Nunnington Hall, both very worthwhile and we spent a day in Whitby which was great. Incidentally, if you buy something in the CoOp in Whitby you can park for 4 hours. Also...the first public car parks seem to get very crowded but there are others further on with plenty of space (Writing in August)We would definitely stay again. Thank you to Richard and Pam for being such pleasant hosts and for the great wine and the milk.

This beautifully furnished cottage has everything you could possibly need and is extremely comfortable. It is a great location for exploring, although apart from the wonderful pub across the road, there is little else by way of amenities within walking distance. However Malton is just a 10 minute drive away where there are plenty of shops etc. Whether you want a base for exploring and somewhere to just relax then this is the perfect place and we have booked to go again. The cottage is very well appointed and clean. The bed is very comfortable and extra linen is available. The owners are welcoming and friendly. The cottage is located in a quiet and picturesque village just across the road from a good local pub.
