About this villa rental

Complete with private pool and secluded deck, Villa Corbières is the perfect location for an idyllic holiday in this still undiscovered yet easily accessible part of Mediterranean France.
The property features a fully integrated kitchen with aged stone worktop and tiling and terracotta tiled floors. All walls will are finished in Meditteranean pastel colours
To the rear is a tiled patio with plenty of shade, an integrated barbecue - the perfect setting for a warm, relaxing , Mediterranean evening. The secluded gardens will be well stocked with a variety of plants and shrubs.
The 9 x 5 metre pool has a stepped end and is surrounded by a hardwood deck area on which to sun bathe or admire the views of the surrounding countryside and the stunning ruin of Durban Castle. The patio and deck are equipped with a sun loungers and parasols.
Villa Corbières is ideally located 30km from the Mediterranean sea at Cap Leucate and within easy reach of the ancient cities of Perpignan (60km) and Carcassonne (65km), both of which enjoy excellent transport links, including rapidly expanding international connections (Ryanair from London Stanstead to Perpignan or Carcassonne). The major metropolitan centres of Montpellier and Toulouse are both 120 km, while over the border in Spain, Girona (Ryanair from London Luton) is 150 km and Barcelona 230 km. All are well served by excellent motorways and frequent rapid rail-links.
The region of Languedoc-Roussillon still remains something of an undiscovered treasure. Nestled along a 300 kilometre expanse of unspoilt beaches between the Cote d'Azur and the Spanish border, blanketed in vineyards and bisected by the Canal Du Midi, the Languedoc enjoys a sun-drenched Mediterranean climate. Daytime temperatures average 30°C in summer, while the annual daytime average is around 22°C.
The interior of the villa:
The villa can accomodate up to 11 people. Villa Corbières is beautifully appointed to the highest standards and fully equipped with a every modern convenience - a perfect home from home in which to enjoy the unique pace and ambience of Languedoc. A short drive from airports at Carcassonne, Perpignan, Toulouse and Montpellier, the surrounding area has a wealth of attractions.
General Comments
The villa is fully south facing and enjoys a completely uninterrupted view of the ancient Cathar ruin which dominates the village. The ruin is framed almost centrally, through the south facing windows and doors of the lounge (leading through to the pool terrace) and the upstairs bedrooms (leading on to a private sun terrace).

Property was clean. Communication was great with reseller but also with the pool guy at the location. Communication was in English so for me this is great. Issues were solved.

The house, location, amenities and facilities are all superb. The position of the house with its stunning views is beautiful. The pool is lovely and the shaded barbecue and eating area are excellent. Beds are comfy with good quality pillows. The area is really lovely, with plenty to see and do. The village of Durban Corbières is a typical small French village, with all basic amenities and is a 10 minute walk (albeit a bit steep on the way back).
All our negative scores are related to the water shortage which we suffered and which the village has experienced, worsening every year for the past 4 years. This summer during our stay, the water was cut off at 14.00 every day and did not come back on till 06.00 the next day. However, because of the elevated position of the Villa, we actually did not get water returning till around 10.00 each day, sometimes later. This meant that we had just 3-4 hours water each day, which made life very difficult. We didn’t know about this problem until it was too late to cancel, so our stay, with 6 adults and 3 children under 6, was not easy.
We would thoroughly recommend this house, but check if the water problem has been solved. If it has, then you will have a fabulous holiday!
