This location is perfect for family days on the beach, with Whitesands Bay close to St Davids (ideal for building sandcastles), and Aberfelin is just a short walk away, where your family can play in rock pools and uncover crabs, shrimps or if you are lucky, a starfish. After a busy day on the beach, relax with an evening meal in the local pub which is a short walk from your cottage.

Preswylfa, an end of terrace cottage, has been thoughtfully restored to retain many of the original features and charm. In the evening you can get away from it all and relax in the dining area with a good book in front of the cosy wood burner or enjoy a family evening in the living room with exposed beams and slate floors. You can take in the evening air and watch the world go by in the courtyard with a glass of wine overlooking the village square.

A trip to Trefin is not complete without visiting the city of St Davids a short drive away, the most westerly point of Wales, and Britain’s smallest city. St Davids Cathedral is the final resting place of Saint David, Wales’ patron saint and next to the cathedral, you can also visit the 13th century Bishops Palace, a truly magnificent sight. Travelling south, Newgale Beach is 10 miles away and is famous for water sports, here you can surf, kayak, swim or you may prefer a quiet early morning stroll. Inland you can visit the market town of Narberth with its many galleries, café and craft shops and for a family day out, a visit to the award-winning Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo, Oakwood Theme Park or Heatherton World of Activities is sure to keep everyone entertained. We have just returned from Trefin and loved our stay.We were just reflecting that we had just had the best holiday for years despite it being February which was a bit bizarre. The weather was great and we enjoyed most days walking the coast path. Really wild. Saw chough, dolphins, a stoat and gannets as well as the wild horses. The cottage was warm and cosy and clean. It was really well equipped. We had a collie with us and the hard floors really helped. We had no problems parking, everyone was friendly and the pub was great and dog friendly. We even went to a lovely artisan fayre in the village hall and came away with local gifts to bring home.

Easy to find and easy access to this cosy and comfortable cottage that has everything you’ll need for a relaxed holiday. Trefin is so quiet it’s easy to park along the road by the cottage. Amazing coastal walking close to the cottage with breathtaking views in either direction, plus we saw seals which was a massive bonus. The village is on a bus route to St David’s, the cathedral is a must see, and Fishguard, although we never made it that far, so you don’t need to retrace your steps along the coastal path if you don’t want to. The Ship Inn in Trefin is very friendly with an open fire. The Sloop Inn in Porthgain is lovely and had a fireworks display during our stay. The Shed serves great food too. Melin Tregwynt is worth a visit too to see the beautiful throws etc being made on site plus they have a coffee shop. A very unspoilt part of the world, we’ll be back!
