About this cottage rental

Bwthyn-To-Maen is a pretty whitewashed traditional stone cottage, one of a pair set within enclosed shared grounds in the hamlet of Llanon, just 1 mile from the coast near the popular village of Trefin. Dating back to the 18th century, original features have been retained with exposed stone walls and beams throughout.Comfortably furnished, one step leads into the welcoming sitting room, its wood burning stove ensures a cosy feel on the chilliest of evenings. The cottage style fitted kitchen/diner is well-equipped. A step from the sitting room leads to a characterful rear hallway where a feature fire place, part of the original cottage, has been retained. A door opens to your own, enclosed patio, south facing and a super spot to dine alfresco with uneven steps leading up to a raised lawn area, but care is needed as the drop is unfenced. The newly refurbished shower room is up 2 steps from the hall and open cottage stairs lead to the pretty bedrooms above with rural views. Guests will enjoy the large, shared lawned area and when you catch the sea views from the drive, you will appreciate how close you are to the sea. The owners are keen to encourage wildlife, bees and butterflies in particular, so the grounds are kept as natural as possible with less mowing and wild flower meadows.A one mile walk down footpaths will take you to the beautiful coastline and the pretty cove of Aberfelin with its rock pools, natural arch and sand and shingle beach, spot the seals, who are regular visitors. The village of Trefin with its local pub, cafe and gallery are within walking distance with another pub, garage and local shop in nearby Square & Compass. Take to the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path to really appreciate the full beauty of this coastline taking in the coves and fishing villages of Abermawr and Abercastle. Abereiddy and its stunning Blue Lagoon is well worth a visit or visit Porthgain where you can enjoy a meal at The Sloop Inn or The Shed, a nationally acclaimed fish restaurant and take away. A short drive will take you to the tiny City of St Davids with its Cathedral, Bishops Palace and range of facilities, while keen surfers will enjoy Whitesands, one of the world’s most beautiful beaches.A lovely traditional cottage ideal for a family or couple whatever the season.Shares the same location as 23538 Bwthyn Bach and can be booked together to sleep 6.Please note there are some changes of level within the cottage and unfenced drops in the garden, care needed.
