About this house rental

The Grange is one of 3 properties in this location (see also The Gite and The Farmhouse).
This character, high quality property is situated in a very tranquil part of rural Brittany, yet within convenient access to medieval Dinan (10 minutes) and a leisurely 30 minutes country drive from many excellent beaches on the north Brittany coast (Cote d'Armor). It stands in well maintained grounds of 4 acres and looks down across rich farmland and wooded countryside.

You can safely walk, ride bicycles around the small local roads and marked trails directly from the property, with plenty of scenic variety, from corn and wheat crops to pasture and wooded/forest areas.
For children there is indoor table tennis and spacious lawned areas to the front and rear of the property for games of football, badminton etc. For the big kids there is a full-size pub-style pool table. A BBQ is perfect on the large patio area at the rear of the Grange (shared with the Farmhouse), an excellent location for outdoor eating and to enjoy the afternoon or evening sunset.

Beaches & things to do: There is a great variety of things to do in the area without having to spend hours in the car. Within 45 minutes drive there are countless beaches to choose from such as le Val-Andre, Erquy, Sables d’Or, St Cast-le-Guildo, St Jacut-sur-Mer, St Briac, St Lunaire and Dinard to name a few. Le Mont St. Michel is also a worthwhile day trip being one hour away. The route back via the 'shellfish coast' from Cherrueix to Concale and the superb beaches and coastal walks from Concale to St.Malo make for a memorable journey. Mediaeval Dinan (10 minutes) is a wonderful place to visit, market day is Thursday. The cathedral city of Rennes and the direct TGV link to Paris is also within an hour’s drive. Within 2 hours drive the tapestries of Bayeux (near Caen) and the war cemeteries of Normandy (Omaha beach) and World War II museums are also worth considering. Closer to home there is horse-riding in Plelan-le-Petit, golf in St Michel de Plelan, swimming, sailing, cycling and pedaloes at Jugon-les-Lacs (10 mins), go karting at Lamballe, a lovely aquarium at St Malo (also walk the ramparts), coastal walks at Cap Frehel, from St Pabu (park on Plage de Caroual) to Erquy or west to le Val-Andre are also recommended.

Places to eat: Ploubalay (Restaurant de la Gare), and Dinan (Le Viaduc), while for the less-sophisticated but more demanding palate (the kids!) there are lots of nice pizza restaurants, a couple of favorites on the way home from the beach are at Pluduno on the D794 and in Plancoet.

Directions: 2.5 hours from Cherbourg (N13). Virtually motorway all the way. Direction Avranches / Mont St. Michel (A84) and Dinan (N176) after which you come off at the Plélan-le-Pétit exit (not the Aire de Plélan just before it which is a rest area) some 8km past Dinan.

Just 2 hours from Caen, direction Avranches / Mont St. Michel on the A84. Virtually motorway all the way. After Avranches, follow the signs for St. Malo / Dinan (N176). Do not go to St. Malo but follow the N176 past Dinan until the Plélan-le-Pétit exit some 10km further on.

Under 2 hours from Roscoff, direction Morlaix (which you bypass) and St Brieuc/Renes (N12) before branching off on the N176 shortly after Lamballe(direction Dinan/St Malo). You come off the N176 at the Plélan-le-Pétit exit after about 14km.

35 minutes from Dinard Airport. Proceed direction Dinan (via Pleurtuit) to the N176 (7km north of Dinan). Travel south, direction Dinan/Lamballe for 16km & take the Plélan-le-Pétit exit some 8km past Dinan.

Very nice house and quiet surroundings. Nice big garden and with the car 10 minutes away from nice town and restaurants. Everything available in the house for people who like to cook. Lovely old towns and seaside not far away. Thank you for the welcome gifts! We recomend this place to our friends.

Pleasant stay and warm welcome. No arrival nor départure formalities. Simple to manage. The Houde is clean and well equipped. 2 remarks, already mentionned by previous guests: pity that there is no séparation with other houses in thé garden. A fence at least in front of the terraces would improve privacy. And also, please repair wifi, which was ooo. But overall, Good expérience

We spent four delightful nights at La Grange at the end of October. We had been looking for a peaceful getaway with our 2 year old daughter and my mum, which this house offers in abundance, and were blown away by the character, space and homeliness of this amazing property. We spent four extremely relaxing evenings lounging in the comfy old leather arm chairs drinking wine by the fireside and preparing meals in the well equipped kitchen. The games room saw some competitive action round the table tennis table too. We could quite happily have not left the house at all! We really enjoyed trips out to medieval Dinan where we explored the old streets and took in the architecture, a very memorable visit to the Grand Aquarium in St Malo and a drive along the coast to Saint Lunaire. We also had some very pleasant walks down the nearby tracks to gather chestnuts. I can't recommend this place highly enough for a relaxing break. We can't wait to go back for a second stay.

We were 2 weeks in La Grange and it was really wonderful!! We were to families with 2 dogs and we had lots of space. During the day everybody had it's free movement: tha kids playig with the table football, dogs outside running around (almost no cars) and we riding around with the mountainbikes of the house. Quiteness during day and night, nature all around, the big fireplace where to spend evenings drinking a great calvados.... It was very calm and close to whatever you want: beaches, horse riding, interesting ancient cities....I'm enthusiastic !! thank you very much and we will for shure come to your place and suggest it to everybody.

My wife and I recently returned from a week in Brittany. The occasion was a family gathering. I was my job to find lodging suitable for 8 family members (4 daughters, one father, 2 son-in-laws and a family friend). We choose the area around Dinan as our base because of the Beauty of Dinan itself and the closeness to many other historical points of interest (St Malo, Mt St Michelle etc..). We rented all three structures within the Pehe compound. By doing so our family had plenty of room for quiet time and a central gathering location for family meals. We chose La Grange as our central gathering area due the spaciousness of the central living area, the amazing kitchen facilities and the huge fireplace. As we visited Pehe in the middle of October the fireplace was in operation every night. My wife and I stayed in the Gite which was quite charming and comfortable. The rest of the family spread out over the remaining accommodations. Everybody in the family raved about their rooms. I would highly recommend this property to anybody looking for a location to gather the family or a group of friends who want to explore Brittany. I must mention the owners, Sean and Nigel, They were wonderful to deal with. They made our stay care free and provided a beautiful property in a magical location.
