Welcome to The Old Smoke House, a character-filled home with breathtaking harbour views, nestled in the heart of Charlestown, one of Cornwall's most iconic and picturesque villages. Charlestown Harbour was constructed between 1799 and 1800 by Charles Rashleigh, whose name the village proudly bears. Once a thriving hub for the export of copper and china clay, remnants of its maritime past remain — including the original shutes on the eastern wall once used for loading cargo. Today, the harbour is a captivating place to wander, with charming cafes and pubs nearby, including The Rashleigh Arms, conveniently located just behind The Old Smoke House.
Inside, the property combines character with comfort. The well-equipped kitchen includes modern appliances, featuring an electric oven, electric ceramic hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and a breakfast bar seating four. The Old Smoke House was such a pleasant place to stay, very relaxing and comfortable, in the centre of Charlestown and close to the harbour. It was extremely well presented, immaculately clean and provided everything that we needed. The owner was very helpful, providing information before our arrival and at the property itself.
Charlestown is just lovely, with it’s harbour and plenty of good bars and restaurants, as well as being a great location for exploring more of Cornwall.
