Riva with Balcony is a prestigious apartment that comes with a refined design and a gorgeous prime location on the Darsena and the sea canal that separates Siracusa from Ortigia island.
Our apartment is located on the second floor with an astonishing view over the historic Posts and Telegraphs building from the bedroom balcony. The space is bright, enriched with precious design furniture and the style of the apartment is truly elegant and delicate, as from the chammy set of armchairs and double sofa bed to the elegant flooring in the living room, which is also fitted with a TV and a built-in bookcase. The kitchen, decorated in soft colors, comes with all the tools guests may need in addition to a new dining table. The bedroom, well refined and matches the style of the living area, has a queen-sized bed with a divider behind where guests will find a walk-in wardrobe, while it faces a flat-screen TV and a small desk. Finally, a brand-new and refined full bathroom with shower completes the property, together with every comfort such as free Wi-Fi, air conditioning in the living room and the bedroom, and heating for a pleasant stay both during summer and winter. The location is also perfect for experiencing the authentic lifestyle of the center in the nearby restaurants and bars. Furthermore, you will find a nearby paid parking area (Parcheggio Talete).

For lovers of relaxation and the sea, eastern Sicily and the area surrounding Syracuse offer everything one could wish for. Starting from the ancient Greek city and heading south, the best-equipped and most beautiful beaches to explore are Minareto, Fanusa, Arenella, and Fontane Bianche, whose name derives from the natural freshwater springs and the particular white color of the sand. On the island of Ortigia, you will also find equipped solariums (Zefiro and Nettuno) and a small free beach called Cala Rossa. Further south, some 30 km away, we find some beautiful unspoiled and inaccessible beaches, including Calamosche, Vendicari with its Natural Fauna Oasis, and the beautiful San Lorenzo. For culture enthusiasts, the Greek theatre of Syracuse and the entire archaeological park with the Ear of Dionysius, a cave carved into the limestone in the shape of a human ear, the Paolo Orsi museum, and the Latomie dei Cappuccini, as well as Ortigia itself with its historical and cultural beauty as well as its landscape, are worth a visit. Not to be overlooked is Noto, the seafront with the tuna fishery of Avola, and finally the seaside village of Marzamemi. In short, Sicily is a land to explore and its natural and cultural beauties are treasures to fill your eyes with.
The airport of Catania Fontanarossa is about 60kms far away, while the “Comiso Pio la Torre” airport is 110kms away. The train station of Siracusa is 1 km away from Ortigia, as well as the inter bus station connected with the airports. We really enjoyed our stay in this apartment . It was very clean and vey spacious. It was in a very good location for centre of Ortigia and was very secure. We felt the apartment lacked some equipment and communication was confusing at times.

My husband and I stayed for 4 nights in Feb. ‘25. Check in went smoothly with Olga meeting us and explaining the apartment. She was very gracious about meeting with us on our schedule. Unfortunately the extractor fan and over-the-stove light were not working. This made the kitchen dim for cooking in the evening. The walls behind and beside the stove are just painted, not tiled and as such are stained with cooking grease. Recycling/ garbage disposal instructions were provided. Surprisingly no salt or pepper was in the apartment, but there was dish soap, hand soap and bodywash/ shampoo. The balcony is a little Juliette off of the bedroom. The washing machine was a washer/ dryer combo and had a rapid cycle. It was clean. There is an electrical key, so when you remove the key to leave the apartment the washing machine and electricity to all the outlets turns off. So nothing will charge while you are out. Of course the fridge keeps working! We used the Talete Parking which was a quick 5 min walk away. It appeared sketchy as there was a man wandering about and trying to extract money from the pay parking machine. However , our car was safe, there is video surveillance ( or so the sign says) and there is a tourist bus stop right out front of the entrance. We used the EasyPark App. Our security deposit was returned by Olga when she popped by to check us out.

We had a wonderful time. The only downfall is there are 49 steps to get to the apartment. Other than that, it's a beautiful apartment with great views.

Overall very pleased with our stay , communication with Wonderfulitaly staff was good and check in / out was easy. The apartment was very clean and comfortable . My only minor gripe was there were no change of towels during a 9 day stay plus lack of dish towels and cleaning clothes.
