About this cottage rental

If you're seeking an extraordinary property for your holiday then look no further than Brandlehow. This private characterful cottage is positioned right on the edge of Derwentwater, with the Woods and Catbells behind, and even has a famous neighbour, the much loved ‘Teddy in the Window'!

Being right on the water's edge and amongst some of the most picturesque scenery this property is ideal for adventure lovers and all things outdoors! There is plenty of space in the property to store bikes, paddleboards and kayaks, before launching from the front door!
The journey to this cottage is a wonderful experience in itself with stunning views on route, followed by a private access road through the woods to lead you to your holiday home.

On entering the property you'll be greeted by the farmhouse style kitchen with plenty of worktop space, fridge-freezer, double sinks, and stove. There is a dishwasher, however you may find yourself volunteering to do the washing up just to admire the amazing views over Derwentwater! The large dining table makes this the perfect space to gather together with family and friends to socialise and dine. The utility off the kitchen provides plenty of space for boots and coats, and has a washing machine and dryer.

Pass through the spacious hallway, where there is access to the garden, to find yourself in the homely living room with leather sofas, wall mounted TV and cosy log burning stove.

Upstairs there are four bedrooms, two king bedrooms, one double and one single bedroom, all well furnished with solid furniture, quality Lake District artwork, and with beds dressed in luxury crisp linen. The master bedroom has the added bonus of a wall mounted TV and also an ensuite shower room.

The modern family bathroom is conveniently positioned between the bedrooms and has a bath with shower over.

There are two areas upstairs on the landings with seating, one of which also has a desk, where you can escape to take a quiet moment and admire the views.

Despite how lovely the house is, the enclosed garden with fire pit is most likely going to be where you'll spend most of your time! The views and scenery are breath-taking (even on a dull day) and it would be difficult to find a more idyllic location!

Fancy an extra treat during your holiday? Hot tub hire is available at this property - please enquire for hot tub availability and prices

There is a Keswick Launch jetty nearby for easy access to attractions including Nichol End, Lingholm, and central Keswick. If you fancy an evening meal or drink closer to home the Borrowdale Gates and Lodore Falls are less than 1.5 miles away.

Brandlehow is the perfect place to relax and refuel. The location is superb, nestled in the woodlands and on the shores of Derwentwater. Most days began with a coffee overlooking the lake, watching the sunrise and the cloud disperse. Beautiful walks from the doorstep and of course a lot of kayaking right from the door. The water levels were incredibly high when we arrived so couldn't make the best use of the launches as we have in the past but enjoyed a trip later in the week. The footpath that runs adjacent to the garden is really only busy around lunchtime as it is midway round the lake loop. Delighted with the additional option of hiring a hot tub too. Beds are very comfy and the landing windows overlooking the lake were great to sit and look over the lake when it got cooler.

I doubt there can be many other properties that can match this location! Absolutely stunning. Great walks right from the house, Catbells, Newlands round etc.. once the round the lake walkers have disappeared for the day the silence is incredible. The house has really comfortable beds and good communal space. The garden has stunning views and great spot for a post walk beer.

My first experience dealing with Keswick cottages and they were happy to help me with regards to changing my check in and check out dates so that I could be there for my birthday which I was grateful for. When we arrived I was delighted to find a bottle of prosecco and lovely box of chocolates with a card which I thought was a really lovely touch. The house was perfect for us, two couples and two adult kids with plenty of space and comfortable beds. The outdoor space was great for late night fires, card and ball games. We soon became acquainted with a robin which we fed every morning along with duck food bought for the ducks that visited us at the lake shore. All in all it was a perfect week away filled with local walks and lovely food. I would definitely recommend Keswick cottages and would book with them again. Brandlehow is a wonderful place. Thanks again Keswick Cottages x

We loved our stay here. With beautiful views of the lake, direct access to walking paths, and a 5 minute walk to a ferry stop, it was the perfect location for us and our dog.

We have been walking to Borrowdale and around Manesty for years and often passed Brandlehow thinking who lives in a cottage like this …. Well we were fortunate enough to stay there last week … The views are spectacular and we were blessed with good weather. Keswick cottages were very helpful over a few requirements we needed for our stay at the cottage Thank you Wonderful memories made

We all had an excellent stay at Brandlehow. The location was beyond exceptional, with easy access to both Keswick and the surrounding environs of Derwent Water and Borrowdale. Sunrise in particular was a moment of pure bliss. The facilities on site were excellent and beyond our expectations. Having a separate boot room / toilet to dump walking gear proved to be handy. The kitchen was very well appointed. The lounge comfortable. The hall was ideal for our dogs. The bathrooms were clean and spacious. The bedrooms were comfortable, fresh and inviting. Although the beds were a little soft and pillows a tad big, hence the 4 out of 5 rating. The hot tub was great, especially after a long walk, with an amazing aspect. The only improvement could be some hooks outside to hang towels or dry robes, perhaps under an awning to keep them dry. Overall, lots of thoughtful touches, with treats for the dogs, the attention to detail with the App guide, matches to light the fire pit, games and jigsaws and even a smart TV. Well done, we’ll look to come again. Teddy in the window rocks!

This was a return visit 12 months from the previous one, and we loved it ... from the first moments of arrival to the sad departure a week later. Keswisk Cottages had clearly looked at our few pointers from a year ago, and had made some subtle but really effective changes: a bit of TLC and some nice touches here & there. Brandlehow is so wonderully positoned just yards from the waters edge, the welcoming feel of the property and the great condition of the place just makes it feel like a real home-from-home ... we like it so much we are already trying to book again for next year! Thankyou to the Keswick Cottages team for their support through the booking and the period before we arrived, and the odd phone query from us on a couple of specific topics which we handled with aplomb by the team.
