About this house rental

This is a beautifully presented detached family house situated in a quiet and very private woodland setting. The house was built in 2006 in a barn conversion style and was specifically designed by the owners to be ideal for their own family holidays with their children and their friends. As such it is ideally laid out with an excellent balance of open plan living space and comfortable, well proportioned bedrooms. As a 'home from home' the house has a very high standard of furniture and equipment throughout and there are plenty of games and DVDs to ensure that there is still plenty to do for adults and children alike on those odd days that the weather spoils your plans. There are two sets of large patio doors leading off the main reception room, the largest of which leads out onto a full width covered patio area and enormous south facing garden beyond. As such this room is wonderfully light and airy during the summer months but with the deep leather Chesterfield sofas and log burner it can also become warm and snug in the winter. In all it is the perfect year round holiday house!

Notes: This is a non-smoking property. Although smoking is not allowed inside Sentinel Lodge, guests are allowed to smoke on the covered patio area. Mobile signal - variable.

Thursford is located midway between the towns of Fakenham and Holt and only six miles from Wells-next-the-Sea. It is an excellent location for a holiday, offering visitors the chance to enjoy the peace and quiet of a rural setting but also providing easy access to the many attractions in the area. The village is best known for the Thursford Collection, but is also home to Thursford Wood, a medieval wood pasture containing some of the oldest trees in the country.

Fabulous country lodge with everything you could need. Well set up, spacious and comfortable. Spencer, the owner was available remotely to deal with any questions we had. Check-in was smooth and problem freeThe small problem we had was fixed promptly by Spencer, thank you.Easy access to Fakenham and the surrounding areas, an ideal location. Incredibly quiet and peaceful.Other guests comments on the small faults have been drawn to Spencer's attention and I am quite sure will be remedied. He is a responsible and helpful owner. We would definitely book to stay there again.

The property is in a great location for exploring this beautiful area of Norfolk, being in a quiet location amongst other similar lodges. It has potential to be a wonderful house to stay in but there are lots of things in and around the property that need some attention. For example the front of the salad drawer in the fridge was broken and didn’t stay on, the kick board fell off every time you opened the dishwasher, the shower doors were held together with silicone, the drain outside the kitchen was partially blocked so the sink water wasn’t really draining away, the sewage situation outside was v smelly, the sofas were a good size but v flattened cushions so we had to sit on extra cushions, many of the pans had lost their non stick surface and were down to bare metal in patches etc etc. That said, the rooms were very spacious and well laid out for a family and the generous utility/ boot room was great. It just felt like it has been a while since the property has had any real money spent on it.

Location excellent for visiting several destinations. Property warm and has all facilities but is let down by its tired state. Sofas extremely uncomfortable which made it hard to relax together. Outside looked really untidy with outside lights not working. It is such a shame as the property has real potential but in need of attention throughout

Great spacious property with amble room for all. Perfect base to walk the North Norfolk costal path and visit many of the villages. Would certainly stay here again.

Some of the furniture needs up updating also the tv in the bedroom didn’t work and the one in the lounge you could only get a few channels. The floors downstairs were very squeaky

There was an initial mix up with the cleaner so we reported a lack of towels. This was rectified first thing the following morning. The property had a few tired areas, replacement of shower head in Master ensuite is essential. There are a large number of downlighters to maintain on the ground floor with some bulbs either blown or missing (I had to swap a few around so that the kids in the bunk room were not sleeping under empty sockets / dangling halogen bulbs). But on the whole really spacious, everything you need for a holiday home and great outdoor space. 👍

The house is exactly as described so suited our group well. Local area actually has some great places to visit - Langham Glass in Fakenham , the North Norfolk Railway not to mention the Thursford Collection virtually next door ! We divided our time between the garden and trips out (the seal watching was fabulous) . Good local restaurants too. Overall a really pleasing stay.

Had a fantastic week in Easter holidays. We were 2 families of 4, and there was plenty of room. Bedrooms were good size and beds were really comfy. Kitchen very well equipped - and also looked well set up for families with younger children too. Family space was great, nice big garden. Lovely tranquil setting - we enjoyed spotting the pheasants and deer in the garden. Great location - close to some gorgeous beaches and local attractions. Nearby Thai takeaway from local pub was very good. One thing to note - property description says there is a hot tub and this is not correct. It was not something that we would have used anyway though, so not a problem. TV reception sometimes a bit patchy, but again this did not really bother us. Overall, a great stay in a great location.

A lovely house, in a lovely setting. We saw deer,pheasants,partridges and a hare in the garden. The house is well kitted out with everything you need. The rooms are large and bright. The beds are so comfortable. Would be happy to spend more holidays there!

Nice peaceful location within easy driving distance of main attractions. Good size property, lots of space for large family to spread out, plus decent sized areas to relax or eat in the lounge and dining areas. Well equipped, including BBQ, extra fridge, garden games, and dvds etc. Only a few minor things in need of attention to make this swiss style chalet into a five star.

The house was in an ideal location with lots of things to do nearby for adults/children. The house itself was well looked after with a lovely garden area and trampoline which was well used by the children. The house itself was very child friendly with safety gates provided, a cot, high chairs and toys. When contacted, the owners were quick to reply. Unfortunately, one shower could not be used as the door was wedged shut but this was communicated to the owners. The overall cleanliness of the property was very good but the showers could have been a little cleaner. Would definitely return again, thank you very much for our stay!

We had a lovely week stay with family. The lodge is clean, spacious and very well equipped. Situated in a peaceful location with lots of wildlife to see and great access to the North Norfolk coast.

Had a lovely quiet and peaceful stay, in this lovely house, everything you could possible need was available to use Including washing machine, children’s outside games. Excellent location for visiting all the lovely picturesque villages and coastlines along the Norfolk coast. If anything a negative, the downstairs shower room is in need of updating, upstairs is immaculate. Just another idea, is a sign as you come down north road to say turn right for lodges.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house was in a lovely location, the children got so excited seeing the wildlife in the garden. There was lots of room, and the set up of the rooms and bathrooms was fantastic. Great hosts and communication too. Will definitely return
