About this cottage rental

Stay at Erika's Cottage in a great location in the Lake District National Park with fantastic views of Blencathra, and the Mungrisedale Fells and the Dodds and Helvellyn Range to the south. This characterful one-bedroom cottage sits next to a private woodland where you may catch sight of the resident red squirrels and enjoy watching the other wildlife such as pheasants, birds of prey, woodpecker and stoats.

The cosy living room has wifi, 4K Ultra HD Smart TV and Nest Thermostat so that you can control your cottage temperature.

Erika's Cottage sits in a fantastic position to explore the Lake District with Ullswater only 6 miles away with its lakeside villages of Pooley Bridge and Glenridding; Keswick and Derwentwater are only 12 minutes drive away, and there is easy access to the rest of the Lake District.

There are plenty of welcoming pubs in the area and the nearest the Troutbeck Inn is just 1 mile away in Troutbeck Village; there is also a great farm shop 3 miles away on the A66.

The cottage is for a maximum of 2 people and well-behaved dogs are very welcome (small pet fee).

Had a lovely stay! It’s such a cute cottage and the views are just beautiful! Perfect size for 2 people to enjoy a peaceful escape. Directions were brilliant, easy enough to remember and check in couldn’t have been smoother! Wasn’t keen on one of the Flaska house resident’s teenage children staring & aggressively gesturing at us as we arrived and unpacked but we ignored her. The cottage was very clean and well kept. Lots of helpful bits around the cottage and nicely decorated. Very cosy and a comfortable bed. If I had to give any constructive criticism then the lack of a bbq, which we were expecting, was disappointing but we made do. It could be a useful addition to have a beaded / tassel curtain at the patio door, it has been so hot we had it open and the cottage seemed to fill with all kinds of buzzing friends. Oh and the fan in the bathroom is super loud! Not great if you visit in the night, maybe a separate switch for the fan could be an idea for a quieter night time visit. Lots of lovely things to do around the area, we visited Dodd wood, aira force, castlerigg stone circle, pooley bridge and Keswick, all of which were easy to get to from the cottage, We had lots of walking in the sunshine then back to the cottage for blissful birdsong and nature. All in all it was an absolutely fantastic stay, we are thoroughly refreshed and relaxed and would stay there again! Already recommended it to family.

It was very clean, pet friendly. The scenery was beautiful. I would definitely recommend the cottage. My particular health needs were also taken into consideration.

Let’s start with the doors front door locks a bit iffy Bathroom door Ned’s catch adjusting and also the bedroom door the cupboard in the bedroom door doesn’t close properly the open plan door is bent like a banana so that never closed properly The bathroom looks great in the photos until you get there and see that the wall panels must of been fitted by Stevie wonder The kitchen draw with the cutlery in catches on the door for the washer The cooker hood is very low I hit my head a few times (6ft 2in) When you enter the open plan front room door their is a wall lamp exactly at head height so I kept hitting that Wall panelling in the bedroom near to the headboard is hanging off The kettle is dangerous when it’s boiled steam comes out the top of the handle (not the lid) and I got burnt It’s a lovely place just very neglected and needs those silly little jobs sorting out OH AND DO NOT PARK AT THE FRONT DOOR OR YOU GET SHAT ON BY WHAT LOOKED LIKE EVERY BIRD IN A 5 MILE RADIUS ONE GOOD THING IS YOU CANNOT BEAT THE VIEW OUT THE FRONT WINDOW ITS ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT The step/log/hazard into the grassed area of the garden is a disaster waiting to happen it needs proper steps
