About this house rental

Casale Amati, La Marchesa was born in an ideal geographical context, close to the sea, the Cinque Terre, Versilia, the Apuan Alps, the Carrara quarries, important historical cities such as Sarzana, Lerici, Lucca, Pietrasanta, Pisa, Florence.
In 1300 d. C. there was already a water mill. A source of pure water allowed the movement of the heavy stone millstones and the gears used for the production of a fragrant oil produced with olives ripened in the sun on the surrounding hills. The Marquis Amati, owner of the oil mill and of the land, decided to live in this splendid place and began the expansion of the oil mill, the complete transformation into housing units by the Marquis's heirs took place in the second half of the 1900s. The renovation, done with love and respect for the original style and characteristics, wanted to preserve many of the unique and fascinating features, so much so that inside the structure you can still admire many of the peculiarities and ancient authentic furnishings.
Outside, 7000 square meters of land surround Casale Amati, with vineyards, olive trees, fruit trees, walnuts and hazelnuts able to offer a quiet privacy and regenerate the spirit in a natural environment full of charm.

Casale Amati is a lovely old house that is tastefully decorated with a beautiful garden. Federica was at the house when we arrived. We had a very good communication with her. If we had some quistions we send a message at the phone and she answered right away. Ortonovo is very beautiful area and a perfect place for family holidays We give our best recommodation.

We were quite a big party with 6 adults who came to celebrate my birthday in La Marchesa. Such a beautiful house with a lot of space! Large bedrooms, kitchen and not least the wonderful barbecue garden. The house has a working Wifi which for us was important. From Ortonovo it is easy and close to reach Cinque Terre, La Specia, Pisa and Via Reggio. One day we went out to Tuscany, eat lunch in the wonderful Vignamaggio (birthday house of Mona Lisa) and spend some hours in Florence. After intense excursions coming back to the quiet place and bird songs in La Marchesa, felt very luxurious. Highly recommended accommodation. We are coming back!

Charming house, but in a very noisy street with a lot of traffic even during night. Dark, small rooms, doesn't match with the pictures on the website. The house is very unpractical and inappropriate for children. The sinks are unpractical and dirty ( not a joy for doing the dishes) and the only toilet is in the small shower room which has no mirror above the sink. Poor internet connection and TV not working. The house is too small for 5 persons. We had to do the dishes upon arrival because all were dirty. The excursion tips provided by the owner turned out to be pretty expensive versus on site alternatives. All in all we were very disappointed

travelling through some narrow sreets and then arriving with lots of space for the kids (3) - stayed in La Marchesa. Wifi ofcourse kept them in but Pending tower of Pisa, bicycle riding on Lucca City walls, Fiumaretta beach, boattrip from protovenere to the cinque Terre and even a daytrip to Genova (with the aquarium) kept them also going outside. nice owners and villagers, with a special remark for Rina across the street who made me feel at home. Panetteria 1 km away made me buy fresh bread every morning, as well as last resort if we forgot to buy thigs at the supermarket. Wonderful stay !

Arriving in the Casale Amati house was like coming home. The ancient olive oil mill is just amazing if you love a characteristic place to stay with a natural surroundings in a non-touristic little village. Our children loved the charming property as there were so many things to disover in and around the house. The vineyard behind the oil mill, the natural watercourse, the covered terrace and the roomy accomodation make Casale Amati to a perfect hideaway for families. Thank you Federica for unforgettable vacations - we just love the ancient olive oil mill!

We had a beautiful time with 6 people at Casale Amati. The house and the garden have a lovely atmosphere and the the house is full of very nice original old items which make such a country hour so unit. You definately need a car, but once you have orientated yourself in the area it is a perfect location to explore Liguria and Tosacana. Thank you so much Federica for your help and the tips. Hope to see you and Casale Amati again. All the best Petra and Axel

We had a wonderful week staying in Frantoio Ingoletti at Casale Amati. The apartment has been beautifully and very tastefully restored by Federica and Enrico and the property is in a great location for exploring the area around the Cinque Terre, Lucca, Pisa, Florence, north west Tuscany etc. Federica was so kind and welcoming and helped us with any queries we had and went out of her way to make sure our stay was as enjoyable as possible. Highly recommended!
