The lighthouse, still active, is located in front of this very pleasant house, formerly inhabited by its guardian and which is now open to you to stay in peace. We were four men in our sixties. For us the house was ideal. Well equipped, comfortable and ideally located for visiting WWII locations.My only caution would be that if you are a party of 10 adults, you may find it slightly less ideal. There are two shower rooms with a toilet in each, and one bathroom with no toilet.There is a steep hill up to the house when coming from the town. Be aware of this if you have difficulty with walking.

Great place in great location on a hill overlooking the harbour and as a working lighthouse it is quite quirky. Very well located to visit a number of WW2 beaches, batttlefields and memorials which is why we were there. Also a short distance from the medieval town of Bayeux. Port en Bessin itself quite small but some very good restaurants and a couple of bars. As we were there early in the season some of the restaurants were closed but enough for us to try a different restaurant on all four nights we were there. We were a party of 4 male adults and found the house very comfortable. Would definitely recommend Maison du Phare.

A fantastic and unique property! It’s at the top of a very steep hill but it’s worth the climb for the view! Excellent facilities, we had a wonderful stay. Thank you!
