In the heart of the Lys Valley, between Cholet, Angers, and Saumur, the Gîte de la Gaucherie aux Dames invites you to a peaceful and natural retreat in the Anjou countryside. Located in Montilliers, this charming, detached, single-story house is ideal for a couple's getaway, a family weekend, or a relaxing holiday with children. Nestled within a historic estate, this place steeped in history will captivate you with its authenticity and unspoiled surroundings.
The owners will be delighted to share the history of this estate, a former castle turned farm, as well as their commitment to the social and solidarity economy. Combining heritage, conviviality, and simplicity, this is the perfect place to recharge far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
The gîte comprises a welcoming living room with a dining area, a fully equipped kitchen including a gas hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, and everything you need to cook independently. You will also have a bathroom with shower and toilet, a bedroom with a double bed (140x190 cm), and a living room with a television and sofa that also serves as a sleeping area thanks to its two single beds (90x190 cm).
When the weather is fine, enjoy your private outdoor space with garden furniture for al fresco dining. Stroll around the property and admire the landscapes of the Lys Valley, with its meadows, horses, sheep, and the remains of the old castle, whose ruins and moat add to the charm of the place. A hiking trail starting from the property will allow you to explore the surrounding countryside at your own pace.
The cottage's location is ideal for exploring the Maine-et-Loire region. Discover the Oriental Park of Maulévrier, the largest Japanese garden in Europe, about 25 km away, the Bioparc of Doué-la-Fontaine at 20 km, or the banks of the Loire River and the town of Saumur, about 40 km away. Wine lovers will also appreciate the proximity of the Layon hillsides and their renowned wines. For a family outing, the Terra Botanica park in Angers is about 50 km away, while Puy du Fou is less than an hour's drive.
In summer, you can also take advantage of the weekly sale of local produce grown using the property's permaculture methods, a wonderful opportunity to discover the flavors of the Anjou region. Shops and services are located in Vihiers, just 6 km away.
For gatherings with friends or extended family, it is possible to rent the other accommodations on the property to accommodate up to 12 people in one location (H49G025549 - Le Logis du Lys, H49G021352 - Le Cloître des Dames).
Wi-Fi and utilities are included in the rental price. A baby cot is available upon request. Optional extras include: end-of-stay cleaning (€35), bed linen rental (€8 per bed), towel rental (€4 per person), and pet accommodation (€7 per pet per night).
