About this cabin rental

The town of Red River is located in the middle of the Carson National Forest with hiking trails leading, among other places, up to Wheeler Peak, the highest point in New Mexico. The Red River Ski Area offers snow skiing and snowboarding beginning on the Thanksgiving holidays and continuing through Spring Break. Even when the natural snow is not as plentiful, the Red River Ski Area has the best snow-making in the state of New Mexico. Red River is just a fun town and is great for families. The town has wonderful shopping and galleries, nice restaurants, and even places to two-step.

The Fishin’ Hole is nestled in the Valley of the Pines just 3 miles outside of Red River. This quaint, three bedrooms, two bath cabin sleeps 8, has a full-size kitchen, wood-burning fireplace and washer and dryer. Two bedrooms each with queen beds are on the first floor, while the upstairs has another queen bed and a double in separate areas. The best “room”, however, is the new deck out back that overlooks the Red River that flows just 20 feet from the back door. The sound of the river is soothing to the soul, and the excellent fishing will provide the freshest, rainbow trout dinner around! The river is stocked in the summer months, and this location on the river is ideal for a good catch! Fishing not your thing? Art lovers will enjoy the numerous art galleries in both Red River and Taos, just 40 minutes away. Music lovers will find plenty of venues, hikers plenty of trails, and horse lovers trails to ride. Shoppers can park at one end of the town and stroll through the many, cute shops, stopping for a bite to eat at any corner. In the center of town is the Red River Community House, built in 1940. For generations, vacationers have returned to this spot for traditions all ages have loved, such as line-dancing, two stepping, guided hikes, boat-building for kids, movies on the lawn, and, best of all, endless egg tosses for all on the 4th of July.

Throughout the year you will have great fun watching the torchlight parade during ski season, enjoy Mardi Gras in the Mountains during February, the Fine Art and Wine Festival in June, the 4th of July Parade, the Hot Chili Days, Cool Mountain Nights celebration in August, Aspencade Arts & Crafts Festival in September, and Oktoberfest in October.

This cozy cabin is a little bit of heaven located high in the Rocky Mountains. It’s sure to bring joy to all ages. If you want to venture beyond Red River, Angel Fire, with a beautiful, 18-hole golf course, is about an hour away in Taos and 2 hours from Santa Fe, with its shopping, art galleries and restaurants. Come refresh you soul at the Fishin’ Hole!

Great location just a few minutes outside of town. The river behind the house, the back porch, and the fire pit was so relaxing. The house had everything we needed and plenty of space! A great variety of games kept the teens and adults occupied.

We enjoyed our stay at the Fishin' Hole. We had plenty of room for our group and the loft was perfect for the kids. The downstairs bedrooms were a nice size and had plenty of closet space. The loft had 3 beds and was perfect for nap time for the kids ,when the adults wanted to chat downstairs. It was easy to get to and Red River was just a 6 minute drive. The house is located in a very pretty area and still had snow for the kids to play in. The river behind the house was so relaxing while you sat on the huge porch or around the fire pit! There was a gas fire pit and a traditional fire pit!! The grill at the house was awesome. There is no central air or heat, but once the heater gets going it warms the house wonderfully. The loft was always nice and warm for the kids. Heat really does rise. The host had heaters in each bedroom too, we only used ours one night because the main heater worked great. Having a fireplace was really nice too, had a fire every night of our stay. The kitchen was stocked nicely with essentials. The washer and dryer definitely came in handy, especially with little ones. The host Spence was very quick to respond to any of our questions. We would definitely stay at the Fishin' hole again.

Great location. Really enjoyed the backyard river. Weather was beautiful. We had several issues initially, but owner was responsive to repairs. Nice wood ceiling but we were disappointed with the confusion in listing details (4 bedroom, 2 bath), outdated furniture, squeaky floors as you're trying to walk through house to get to the bathroom in the middle of the night, burned out lightbulbs, carpet in kitchen and bathrooms, old mattresses, broken screen doors in bedrooms, poor water pressure in showers, overgrown grass in driveway and firepit. This home would be better for a family with kids. Kids in upstairs loft. We had all adults. We appreciated the games and also enjoyed walking in the neighborhood.
