The room had a nice rustic mountain vibe and felt cozy and comfortable. The location of course is great, right on Hwy 150 with a mountain behind it and within a couple of miles of the Taos Ski Valley center. We did a shorter hike (the day before our big hike to Wheeler Peak) for which the trailhead was a short walk from our room. The room was equipped with reusable utensils and a microwave and fridge, both worked great. There was a tower fan in the room. The staff in the Alpine Village Suites office were very friendly and helpful.
The room is small, and feels a bit cramped because of how the furniture is laid out. The dresser is too large for the room. The TV sits on it but it could be on its own space-saving stand instead, and the room would benefit from a table that you could place in front of the chair so you could drink/eat on it. The bathroom lacked an exhaust, which is more problematic given the small size of the room. Also the shower didn't have a sliding door but just a glass partition that covered half of the shower length, causing water to spill outside the shower no matter how careful you were. There is no AC (cooling) in the room, only heating, which I guess is fine most of the year, especially with the tower fan mentioned above (although a ceiling fan would be much better).

It wasn't even close to as nice as the pictures looked and no chairs on the outdoor balcony. :(
