About this villa rental

In love with the island for a few years, we built this house which was delivered at the end of 2020, allowing us to arrange it with care and taste.
The house is 10km (20min) by car from the main port of Chora (capital of the island, 10km away from the airport and less than 10 minutes away from the village of Vivlos). Provide a 4x4 for more tranquility as the last 900m is in dirt and there are 2 important slopes before accessing the house (Cyclades mean roads that are not perfect, important slopes in the islands).
. - IMPORTANT - All the floors have been changed end of 2024 and we added couple of new areas -
.
The house is located at the top of a small mountain, giving it an "eagle's nest"-spirit surrounded by nature and full of charm. It is thus the last house at the top of the hill called Avlia, and therefore not overlooked, with the most beautiful view of the hill. The mineral side combined with a breathtaking view of the sea and Paros (more than 180 degrees view from the capital Chora to the South of the island of Paros & Antiparos) make you feel privileged in front of the spectacle, a true living picture.
The house is semi-detached with a small house on a different level.
.
The sun shines all day long and you will be offered several outdoor spaces to vary your pleasures, all on two levels spread over 1,000m² of land. A space at the entrance of the property will be dedicated to park two cars under a dedicated pergola. Warning: In order to protect our house, we would like to inform you that a surveillance camera is pointed on the entry of the house.
.
On level 0 of the property (living areas of the house, large terrace, swimming pool):
- a terrace area against the house and facing the view, protected by a pergola of 15m²,
- a "BBQ" terrace area protected from the wind by the mountain and a stone wall, offering a permanent barbecue (electric plancha), a sink, a mini-fridge and a hard table for 8/10 people, also facing the sea view, and protected by a 15m² pergola,
- the roof offers the possibility of gaining height.
.
On level -1 of the property (bedrooms, bathrooms and terrace):
- a terrace area in front of the bedrooms on the lower level, with its 15m² pergola so you can isolate yourself and read quietly on a deckchair or have breakfast or a drink (provided with small tables and chairs). A stone staircase connects this terrace to the main one.
.
The house is composed of a large air-conditioned living room (living room and open fitted kitchen and its window in front of the worktop for cooking while enjoying the view). Two double doors give access to the pool area (terraces and different pergola areas).
Access to the bedrooms on level -1 is via a staircase. They all overlook the sea and a terrace under a pergola and are all air-conditioned.
« Guest room »: has storage space (also under the bed), television, terrace access, wireless internet.
« Children's bedroom »: two "hard" bunk beds, and a sofa bed (140x190cm).
These two bedrooms share a bathroom (shower) and a toilet.
« Master bedroom »: has storage space (also under the bed) and its own bathroom (shower) and WC, a television and wireless internet.
A total of 7 beds therefore (the sofa bed in the children's room is not very wide: 140x190cm and not very confortable).
.
The 32m² swimming pool is gray / blue in color and is automatically lit at night (from 8PM).
A hand shower is provided against the rock to rinse you.
An outdoor bathroom is also provided to avoid entering the house each time (shower, toilet and sink).
.
Internet access is via satellite to offer all the comfort of a worthy connection to follow your work meetings on your laptop or watch your favorite series serenely.
.
A JBL Xtreme 2 Bluetooth speaker is available.
.
---------------------------
Important notice:
- The swimming pool being unattended, customers are responsible for the safety of minors who use the premises,
- Access to the villa is compulsory by car (4 wheel drive to be sure) and the access road is mostly unpaved (over 900 meters) with 2 significant slopes.
- The coffee maker is a Nespresso machine.
.
We hope you will feel good in this very well equipped house.
An experience to share with friends or family...
.
Catering ideas:
- Breakfast / lunch at Tortuga (Orkos beach) - it is also a private beach with mattresses under mini pergolas - €25 for a bed for two with unlimited mineral water all day long.
- lunch at Kastraki Paradise Tavern to taste, under the olive trees, a wolffish / line bar (€14-€15).
- dinner at Patatosporos with sand beneath your feet - Agia Anna - and stroll along the boards set along the beach (romantic in the evening or convivial depending on what you are looking for).
- dinner at Doukato in Chora to taste "Greek" meat.
- cocktails (nice ones) at 520 Café on the port to enjoy a nice view facing the sunset.
.
To do on the island:
Cross the island from West to East for a lunch in Moutsouna.
Nice hike to do (1h30-2h climb, not hard at all): Mont Zeus (highest peak of the Cyclades).
Going around the island from the West then North, the road runs along the sea, it's fantastic.
Jumps from the rocks (next to Roos beach - search on Google Maps).
Stroll through the old town of Chora and visit the castle which overlooks the city. The shops close late at night.
Unmissable kitesurf spot on the island: Mikri Vigla - Orkos beach

Mykonos: 30min by ferry
Koufonissia: 35min by ferry (superb because mostly uninhabited)

My friends and I treated ourselves to this villa for a relaxing vacation to spend our R&R time at the gorgeous villa. However, it's important to do your research and we wish we knew about some of the downsides before booking. Below are a list of pros and cons, so you have all the information needed before booking as well. Especially as some of these cons may be dealbreakers:Cons:- There are bouts of STRONG 30 mph wind that cannot be forecasted until only a few days before during June - September. This makes it difficult to take advantage of the outdoors area of the villa, which is the most enticing part of this property. - There is one rocky and steep road in and out of the villa that is very difficult to drive on if you're not familiar with this type of terrain. Google Maps is also inaccurate at estimating drives. It took us 10 min just to drive from the villa to a main road every time we wanted to leave - and we wanted to leave quite often to avoid the strong winds during our stayPros:- The views are insane and it's an extremely unique property- If you have good weather (low to no winds) it is a gorgeous place to R&R, taking advantage of the view and outdoor pool- The host is extremely kind, responsive, and great at recommending things to do at the property or exploring the island. My friends and I hired a private chef one night at the villa, which I highly recommend!

BEST VIEW IN ALL OF NAXOS! We even cancelled our reservation at Rotunda because why drive 30 minutes for a sunset when we can get an even better view from the comfort of our own home? The location is easy to find, especially with the directions that the host provided. The one lane road in and out can see daunting but once you do the drive a couple of times, it is a piece of cake. It is a 15 - 20 minute drive to the market / beach / restaurants but everything was easily accessible. The outdoor space is amazing - we spent all day in the pool and ate every meal at the outdoor dining area. The inside of the house has all upgraded amenities, including a state of the art kitchen where we could prepare meals. We utilized the concierge service to have a private chef cater lunch on our first day, which was absolutely delicious. Chef Kostantina also shared her recipes so I can try to recreate her dishes at home. We had leftovers for days so I recommend booking this early in your trip. The only minor inconvenience was the lack of towels. The information pamphlet provided said we would each have 2 towels. We had 1 towel for each person to use for both the the pool/beach and shower. We ended up just doing laundry more frequently but it is an opportunity for improvement. Located on the top of the mountain, the property is incredibly quiet and secluded. We loved our stay and would highly recommend this house to anyone that wants a quiet week away from the hustle and bustle of life.

What prompted me to look at renting this house was that amazing view. It was just as amazing in person. The house was clean and beds comfortable. The only issue was that we got an email that said we could check in at 1400. The housekeeper was there and stated that we could not check in till 1600. She let us put up our groceries and we hung out at the pool. We had an amazing time.

We absolutely loved our time in Naxos. The house was perfect in every way. We were able to cook at home some nights and go out on others. We absolutely needed an SUV to reach the house but those dirt roads were part of the adventure. We were able to arrange a private catamaran tour for the day through the concierge service and we had the time of our lives. I would visit Foliá again in a heartbeat. Magical place!
