We had a lovely but too brief sejour in la Residence Madelia. Finding the residence at night was a challenge in that the directions (both in French and English) were somewhat misleading. There is a large complex also called "La Residence" at the nearby corner; we finally knocked on a door of an apartment there and were directed to the Residence Madelia further down the road. When we arrived we were welcomed with open arms, ti'rhum and a delicious dinner. We chatted with the other guests in French, German and even a little English. The grounds are beautifully kept and full of plants and flowers. We had a car, but it was an easy walk to Port Louis and even on to the beach. there. It was easy to understand why some of the guests return year after year to stay for several weeks! We hope we can return some day too. Recommended!
