About this cottage rental
Johanna and Julien have completely renovated this half-timbered house from 1885, combining old-world charm, modern comfort, and a touch of designer decor with many unique items. Reading on the lovely balcony, chestnuts roasted over a wood fire, a nap in the shade of the cherry tree, a wild dance around the record player, or a game of soccer in the large one-hectare garden: your vacation is sure to be a success. Everything is set up for a relaxing and refreshing getaway with just one condition: sharing the space with a little roommate more commonly known as a robin. To make it happy, several birdhouses have been placed all around—will you be able to find them all? Around this haven of peace, you’ll find many hidden gems: the authentic town of Pont-Audemer, Bec-Hellouin—listed among the “Most Beautiful Villages of France”—and the charming village of Cormeilles, whose streets are lined with half-timbered houses.
Nestled in the heart of the Montfort National Forest, the house sits on a large, one-hectare private, unfenced lot. On the first floor: a fully equipped kitchen with a dining area; a comfortable living room with a TV and fireplace where you can warm up by the fire; and, adjoining it, a dining room with a bookshelf, a Bluetooth turntable, and a small office area. A bathroom with a large walk-in shower, vanity, and separate toilet. Upstairs, in the attic, you’ll find a relaxation area on the landing with a two-person sofa bed and TV, a Super Nintendo 2, and approximately 300 DVDs. To the right is a double bedroom decorated in shades of green with a 140x190 bed, which has its own balcony overlooking the large garden. A second bedroom, decorated in shades of blue, features a 160x200 bed. Enjoy plenty of cozy spots to relax in the garden and a variety of outdoor games: a children’s playhouse, a swing set, bikes, badminton, soccer goals… a private chef is available upon reservation.

We stayed two weeks in August with very hot days, still very pleasant due to the near forest and shadowy trees on the very nice and green area that belongs to the house. People who like life at the country side with the sound of nature around will love this wonderful place. The little house is very cute and equipped with everything you need for a vacation. At most, you might run out of spoons before the dishwasher has finished its next cycle. The use of the rooms is slightly different in the photos. There is now a dining table by the large fireplace, and the living room has been moved to the rear area, which is also more practical. Besides, the outdoor area was mauch greener than on the pics :-)For shopping, restaurants or visits/museums you will need a car, as they are all at least some kilometers away. For a bath in the sea, we chose Trouville which is a good 45 Minutes car ride away.Communication with the owners was cordial, straightforward, very quick, and always helpful. Super easy check-in and check-out.We enjoyed every day!Just a hint: garbage collection seems to happen on Fridays, not on Mondays, as indicatetd in the info folder in the house.

Lovely well kept old house in a beautiful area. Very complete and cosy interior. Good quality beds! 3rd bedroom is a sofa bed in the hallway.

We had a spacious, well presented and clean gîte. The home is tastefully decorated, lots of interesting decor!
The kitchen was incredibly usable for making full meals or sides to accompany grilled meats - we did leave BBQ tools for other guests to take advantage of!
We knew the bed linen was afresh as it was left for us to make up the beds and that was a nice touch! A lovely place we will visit again with our

We loved our 5 night stay at this charming cottage. It was quiet and peaceful, warm and welcoming, well-equipped and conveniently located to explore Normandy. Joanna and her husband were great hosts and we her personal recommendations.
