McKinley aka "Denali" (the Great One), the tallest mountain on the North American Continent. During the Summer its not unusual to see Moose in the front yard. Grill your dinner while enjoying a glass of wine and a view of city lights and surrounding mountains. Fall asleep in a super comfortable King size bed and just enjoy the quiet. Separate outside deck and picnic table add to charm of this downstairs apartment in this mountain residence. Both inside and out, The Eagles nest is an ideal retreat. its a 15 min drive to South Anchorage for a unique shopping/dining experience. Or a 2 hour drive to world class fishing on the Kenai River or a 30 min drive to Salmon fishing at Bird Creek. There's Hiking/Biking trails in nearby McHugh Creek, including the crystal clear water of Rabbit Lake in Chugach park, enjoy bird watching at Potter marsh.

When we signed up for this location, we did not figure out we would just be in the basement. That said, the apartment they made for us worked out great for us.When we arrived at 10PM and found out we needed to get carry our heavy bags down steep stairs. I called host Gary and he popped out of the house and carried them down for us! He even set his alarm on our leaving day at 5:15 am to help carry them back up to the car for us. That made this location totally accessible for us.We were in Alaska for 10 days. This location was our last two nights. I got the best sleep of the trip here.The road to get up the hill to this house is a dirt road but even in the rain, we did not have any issues getting up there. The view was awesome.Thanks Gary for all your help. Kathy

The experience was great. Gary communicated everything perfectly, from the street to the residence, where to park, the code! Everything was seamless. The place was clean & everything was comfortable. You should know that this is attached with the host just upstairs via an interior staircase. We are early to bed, early to rise people & you can hear the upstairs, however it didn't affect us, but it could others. They are working on a unit above the garage so that will offer some separation, but all in all, great stay

Not great due to the owners living above. Movement from dogs & people heard until 11:30pm at least. We are early to bed and early to rise people. Water flowing in wall above headboard. Not a peaceful abode. There was no table to sit at inside. The tiniest of living rooms. To be honest we stayed one night and never came back. Oh and when we left there was a woman who opened the door because the tied up little dog was barking loudly - the dog then proceeded to snip at my leg as we walked by, no other course to take. The last communication from the owner was a couple of weeks out sent a message and he failed to reply until we had already checked in for the 1 night. A loss of for sure, but no way could I have stayed there. Lesson learned never rent with people living above you.
