About this cottage rental

Built by the Congested District Board in 1903, this beautiful cottage has been completely renovated to provide pet and family friendly self catering which has a 4* rating with the Irish Tourist Authority. Situated in the small village of Bracklagh, it has been finished to a very high standard with a new bathroom and kitchen, ensuite wet room, wood/peat burning stove, saorview tv, bluetooth speaker, digital Roberts radio, linen & towels from The White Company, underfloor heating via a groundwater heat pump and most of the electricity provided by a ground mount solar array.. A refurbished hay barn is ideal for parking, while a second, lockable barn is available to store bikes, surfboards and the like. Bracklagh is very quiet and a haven for wildlife – particularly hares and well behaved dogs are VERY welcome.

After our experience at the last cottage, which was less than welcoming (guest instructions posted like confetti around whole house), cluttered, and unclean, we weren't sure what to expect.We weren’t disappointed! Seán allowed us to check in early and met us at their cottage to ensure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. We couldn't have asked for more!The cottage was spotlessly clean and had some basic supplies (tea, sugar, etc.). We took advantage of Suzi's cooking and generosity by ordering her soda bread and a cottage pie for two which would easily feed four and all for a very reasonable 25...thank you, Suzi We humans soon made friends with the resident cats, who thankfully were very dog savvy moggies, although our dogs were less entranced Would we recommend? Undoubtably!Would we come again? Absolutely!

This location was ideal for us and our dogs as we needed to escape the madness of fireworks over Halloween and enjoy a quiet countryside break. The property was clean and well cared for and had all the facilities we needed. The owner was always on hand to deal with any issues and it was the icing on the cake to have the company of their cats and ponies

I loved the Blue Cottage. Peaceful, calming and away from everywhere. It was exactly what I needed as I was recovering from 6 months of chemo. Teddy, my male Lhasa Apso, fell in love with the white Shetland pony. He would run to her when he went out and lick her mouth. She wasn’t sure what to make of it at the beginning, but eventually joined in. So funny watching the pair of them. Sasha wasn’t so interested. We had a slight problem the first night; the electricity went off, probably affected by the severe storm the day before. Sean very kindly brought me candles, wood and turf for the fire and make sure everything was okay. I felt very well looked after and certainly would recommend it to anyone else. I was sorry to leave.

Unfortunately this was a work trip so I didn’t get to explore the beautiful countryside as much as I would have liked but the cottage was absolutely beautiful. Really well equipped and comfortable. The owners Seán & Suzi were warm and welcoming. Great place to come back to after a hard days work but I would love to bring the family back for a wee holiday sometime. First class.

The cottage is really nice, not too far from Claremorris (groceries, pharmacy and more). We had a great stay with a really calm neighborhood! Beware of the cats, they ask for pets really often. Also, the cottage has many nice things to visit around: beaches, museum, castles... and Sean and Suzi have put together a binder with great recommendations.

Within 30 minutes of booking I was contacted by Suzy. It was a last minute booking as we decided to go away for our son’s 12th birthday. Directions were spot on. You can see the house as you drive along the track!Advised hosts of our ETA and we were met at the property by Suzy & Séan. Both lovely and welcoming.There was a lovely message wishing our son a happy birthday from the clever kitties 😊Suzy & Séan Gave us all the information we would need. And a brief rundown on how the house was refurbished. The pictures tell the tale beautifully. We were instantly blown away by the beautiful setting and the 2 ponies came over to greet us swiftly followed by Tilly the cat, our youngest took a real shine to her and she slept in his room with him. The house has everything you could need and more. From the beautiful bedding to hair straighteners!! The underfloor heating was amazing and there were some logs/kindle for us to have fires both evenings. The kitchen is fully equipped. We had forgotten milk so hubby found a Aldi about 10 minutes down the road. We didn’t see a soul which was bliss. I can imagine it being even more stunning in the warmer months.Stunning views both front & back. Our boys loved exploring and came across the makings of a bar, possibly a new project? We loved it so much we are looking at dates to visit again for longer.I’d highly recommend this little slice of blue heaven. See you soon. Louise Andy Jude & Rohan💙

A taste of real Ireland in Mayo. Peaceful location, characterful accommodation with really comfortable beds, rooms and living room. We both slept so well. It was fully stocked with everything, plus more, you could think of including games, cable tv, extensive kitchen equipment, high quality bedding and a delightful bath. Beautiful scenery and amazing hosts (Sean & Susie) were very helpful and considerate of our needs, as my partner is disabled, we also had two dogs with us.
