Thalyra Aparthotel

Thalyra was in the perfect location. Amazing access to the beach and to the Old Town. We easily walked everywhere we wanted to go. The views of the beach and city were incredible. It was also very easy to get to restaurants and grocery stores.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay but here are a few things that would have been better. The shower was very small and only had a handheld shower head. The water pressure was good so it wasn't too bad but water gets all over the small bathroom. They didn't have real coffee in the room, just instant. They did have an espresso machine in the lobby so we could go down there and make a cup but it would have been nice to have it in the room. They discouraged the use of the kitchenette for cooking. This didn't end up being a problem because we could use the fridge and heat up leftovers in the microwave but we weren't aware of that when we booked.

Everything about our experience staying at this hotel is positive. I know the owners have only recently taken over and the job they have done and are doing is exceptional, the attention to a lot of the little details that some other hotels miss or just don’t do was very noticeable . Cleanliness of hotel, facilities and decor of rooms, friendliness of staff and owner, all helped make our first holiday here most enjoyable. The addition of the rooftop Sun deck area was stunning and only adds more to an already great experience. This is an owner who knows what it takes to make our holiday experiences as good as they can be, add the location, the all round views from the balconies and you have a terrific combination. Will happily recommend this hotel .

Shower very small.

I liled the location, right across rethymno beach, which is big and organized and it is close to downtown, but still not too crowded like downtown. The room was pretty soundproof.

It was not clean when we checked in, hair on the floor, garbage full in the kitchen, sheets and towels stained, kitchen furniture not whiped (the fronts). They advertise daily housekeeping, but they only cleaned our room once in 5 days (for one day, I told them they don't need to do housekeeping) When I arrived, they asked me to pay a tax, 1,5 euro per night, whereas when you book through booking, it says from de the beggining that all taxes are included in the fare. Besides, after I booked and payed via booking, I received the summary of what I paid and that 1,5euro tax per night was included in the ammount I paid. Pay attention to what housings are asking you. Double check everything. I did not like that there was no one at the reception. The internet did not work at all, except for the first day we arrived. The bathroom is too small. The furniture in the room is quite worn. You do not have dishsoap or dishcloth to do your dishes, but they are not doing them for you either that one time they come in to do the cleaning.
