The apartment is very close to the beach, while the scenic old town and the fortress can be easily reached, approx 10-15 minutes on foot.
The apartment was quite comfy, clean and spacious. The bedroom was up a staircase (mezzanine), under the inclined wooden roof; the beds were very comfortable and a quiet fan (in combination with the aircon that was installed in the living room though) provided almost adequate comfort during the heat wave.
The kitchen was very well equiped, providing all required utensils to prepare meals.
There was hot water all the time, the balcony was very large and featured chairs, a small couch, a table and even a swing - absolutely great to chill at and after dusk.
Internet connection was excellent. Sheets and towels were changed every other day.
During the heat wave, temperature climbed perceptibly under the wooden roof, in the mezzanine where the bedroom is, requiring intense air-conditioning and the use of the fan (fortunately it is almost noiseless).
Upon arrival we were informed that city taxes were raised. Although we had already paid 8 euros for four nights via booking.com, the landlady informed us that we had to pay 24 euros more (the city tax climbed to 4 euros per person per night). We could pay instantly by card however.
There were no window mesh screens (save the bathroom window); however the landlady provided a plug-in mosquito repelling device, that proved to be quite effective!

L’appartement avec peu de surface est optimisé grâce à une mezzanine ingénieusement aménagée.
Certe rethymnon pêche par son manque d’espaces parking, mais même en haute saison il y a moyen de se débrouiller. Très proche de tout dans le centre ville, l’hôte est toujours disponible et arrangeant et le ménage est fait à souhait de façon irréprochable

Great location
The free public parking was impossible and the just very unhelpful. There was non existent wifi, again the host just said it's because it was shared. The balcony unfortunately had terrible views of junk yard rooftops.
