About this house rental

This is Bluebird Herb Farm. A well-loved home for our 4 children, it is spacious stylish & easy to live in. Two living rooms - 1 on each floor make this an ideal home for 2 families. Large sized TVs on each floor; 2 bedrms + 2 baths down and 3 bedrms + 1 bath upstairs; a carved staircase and with a painterly tile landing, we have have lots of outdoor space - large decks w/ spectacular views of Taos Mtn, a secluded patio w/ hot tub and grill - 5 miles west of Taos Plaza - w/ ample parking.

Large spacious - 2 living rooms - courtyards- decks - hot tub - privacy - views. Our home started as a small 2 bedroom 2 bath adobe and has now grown to a 2 storey farm house with 5 bedrooms and 3 baths, patios, decks and 2 living rooms. With lots of glass, we built several places to enjoy the views - decks upstairs and down - patios back and front. A unique and steep stair case made from salvaged juniper/cedar trunk takes you upstairs--not for the elderly or mobility challenged. With central AC upstairs to keep you cool during our hottest months of June+July.

The entire house is yours - a secluded patio off the dining room; another off the master bedroom with a hot tub; a deck off the second floor; a field to play games or burn off energy; private parking.

I can offer you suggestions on eating out - the runs to take at Taos Ski Valley - trails to hike - art to look at - things to do - history of Taos and northern NM - a guide to hot springs and artist studios.

The Colonias Valley lies 3 miles to the west of Taos town on the other side of Blueberry Hill road; it is a mixture of single family homes, some agricultural land and trailer homes. Like so much of Taos this is not a subdivision and it is not manicured - rather it is a mix of modest homes, trailers, and open land. Some of Mike Reynolds very first earth-ships were built next door and just up Verdolaga road are several pit houses and even a meditation pyramid and several dome houses. In the summer you will spot our neighbour riding her tractor tending to her barley or winter wheat planted fields. The blinking light and all the restaturants on the northside are a 10 min drive up Blueberry Hill Road; the nearest grocery stores - Cid`s Market, Taos Market, Smith`s and Albertson`s.

We enjoy eating out - Love Apple, El Meze, Taos Diner and Gutiz on the north side; Common Fire, Medley and Pizanos on the Ski Valley Road, Aceq, Taos Cow and Abe`s Cantina in Arroyo Seco; Lambert`s, La Cueva, Jalapeno`s, Donabe Asian, The Tap Room, Byzantium and Taos Diner near the Plaza; Five Star Burger, the Guadalajara Grill, the Ranchos Grill, El Taoseno, Old Martina`s on the southside, Orlando`s, Gutiz and The Love Apple on the road north - wow what a selection of places to eat!

Like in much of the west, you must have a car to get to our house and to get anywhere else in Taos. We are on a paved road that is ploughed quickly after a snowstorm.

As the weather warms up we will continue to landscape the exterior.
We have been renting to short term guests for 11 years; please treat our home with respect and grace.

What a gorgeous place to stay! The property had all that was promised in the listing, and was a great home base for our group trip. Sanjay was communicative and pleasant, and his assistant Bettina was present for our arrival to give a short tour - they even had some fresh fruit ready for us. I would certainly stay here again! Thanks!

Blue Bird Farm is a wonderful spacious house with lots of coziness and conveniences. Sanjay filled his house with an eclectic mix of comfortable furniture, natural fiber textiles and thoughtful details to make your stay memorable. Kitchen was fully equipped for any kind of cooking you could think of, lots of small appliances and gadgets plus two full size fridge/freezer combos. The hot tub was hot and clean, perfect for starry night soaks. Wi-Fi, Roku, TV and Bose speakers all worked well. Master suite plus 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, kitchen, dining and living room on main level. 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and a cozy sitting room upstairs. Absolutely only note is the stairs to the upstairs are steep so if bringing anyone with balance issues plan for them to stay on main level of house. Quiet location close to Taos and a short drive to the ski valley. Perfect location. Loved our stay and are planning to return for another stay.

What a delightful home! Our family stayed for 5 nights while taking care of my late Father’s belongings. Sanjay, and his business associate Bettina, could not have made us feel more welcomed or cared for. From having the lights on for our late arrival, to snacks, to referrals for local resources, and overall above and beyond kindness — we are so grateful to them, and that we stayed in such a beautiful home!(One thing to note: when it says the stairs are steep, no joke, they are — we were fine, but I wouldn’t put anyone totter-y upstairs!). Thank you so much for everything!
