Country Farm House in the Ozark Mountains

I brought a group of students to auditions. This cozy and comfy house was exactly what we needed to allow the kids to socialize and explore before their stressful day. Note: the gaming room doesnt have a door, which was fine for us, but not mentioned in the description. Also, the twin bed is very narrow, which our kids thought was cozy but someone my age and size might not have. The owner has family nearby, and everyone was friendly as anyone could wish. Great stay!

We really enjoyed our stay here, the property was really cool and remote. The owners that live right next door were super hospitable and it was fantastic meeting them. Downside. The driveway is gravel but there is a spot for covered parking. The location is a bit remote to make it to all the fun roads that Arkansas has to offer, but it is a very central location, to a lot different places. We met a lot of nice people in Dover, and Russellville is close enough for food options.

We had a last minute 3 day weekend and booked this property near Dover AR. Three teenage girls, my wife, and I so we needed more bedrooms and this property looked right. The owner responded within an hour of my inquiry. House is easy to find and on good roads. His parents live next door although that is about 3 acres away. It was an updated farm house with very well manicured yard. The farm was also very well taken care of. There was no livestock, but we saw plenty of deer. The house reminded both my wife and I of our grandparents houses from when we were kids. It was clean with new laminate floors and paint. Although it reminded us of those old houses, it did not smell like an old house. We arrived with plenty of daylight so the kids roamed around and then Lawanda brought over a tin of dog food to bring the catfish up in the stock pond. We went fishing on the small dock and managed to catch one fish before dark. The kids really liked the catfish coming up to eat. We explored a small creek at the edge of the woods. Lawanda said the kids could roam as far as they wanted. She doubted they would get to the end of the property. There's a big green egg on the deck, so we had juicy hamburgers for dinner and then roasted marshmallows for smores on the fire pit. We played cards and Jenga in the game room and went to bed. The beds were comfortable. A king in the master, queen, double, single day bed in the other 3 rooms. The owners are big quail hunters so there is a hunting/fishing theme with many prints and mounts in the house. There were also lots of interesting books and objects about the history of the area. The owner recommended Pedestal Rocks for a hike and let us know about a lower area with caves. The kids had a great time in the caves. We could hardly get them out of there to go to the next place, the Glory Hole. This is an unmarked trail to waterfall that has eroded through the bedrock and started falling through a small hole in the overhanging cliff. This is a must see if you are in the area, but be careful since there are no rails. We cooked tacos in the full kitchen that night. The house is fully equipped and even had a Keurig which my oldest daughter loved. We floated Big Piney creek the next day. It was a fun float but a bit cold when my youngest flipped her kayak. The house is located in a great spot for making a base camp for Ozark adventure, or just hanging out on the farm and remembering what it was like to visit Grandpa on the farm.
