About this house rental
The Bar Harbor Ranch: nestled in an evergreen forest adjacent to a main road, this spacious modern house is conveniently located right on the head of the island and less than 10 min. from Acadia National Park's Hulls Cove Visitor Center. The house was set up for large group social activities, with an open concept kitchen, 8 person bar/dining area and a cozy relaxation area by the indoor fireplace. With the ideal weather Acadia experiences, the property is perfect for outdoor family activities on the deck, front lawn or sitting around the fire pit.
Features include - Kitchen: With a propane oven and 4 burner stove top, large air fryer, an additional electric 4 burner stove top, coffee pot & Keurig, dish washer, full fridge, and more than all the essential cookware this kitchen allows guests to save money by eating in. Dining Area: With 7 bar seats and 8 kitchen table seats, sitting down to enjoy a home cooked meal has never been easier. Turn on the indoor propane fire place, connect to the bluetooth speaker system and let the good times roll! SMART TV'S IN EVERY ROOM! We know after a long day of hiking, sometimes the perfect evening consists of taking a hot shower, laying down and watching a movie with your loved ones. We have 4 smart tv's in the house including a large sectional "TV Room" so the whole family can gather together.
Lastly, spending time outside is a must in Acadia which is why we make sure outdoor activities are possible with an outdoor woodburning sauna, propane bbq grill, porch with table/umbrella/chairs and a fire pit for relaxing evenings with S'mores! Very comfortable, only 15 minutes from downtown Bar Harbor, just a few minutes from Acadia. It was perfect for our group of 7. Kitchen well stocked, we enjoyed the fire pit.

Great location and well stocked for family meals. One of the best parts was the communication with the host and the response times. The host actually made you feel that they were glad you were there.

This property has it's pros and cons but I agree with the other reviewer who left a 6/10 rating that this property is good, but not great. Location wise, it's only a short drive from Bar Harbor and the entrance to Acadia so it's convenient without being in the busy downtown area and is a great starting point for your daily activities. On the negative side though, I was not impressed with the cleanliness, especially the kitchen. Cabinet and drawer faces were sticky and we had to wash almost every pot and pan before we used them because of food residue and grime. For the steep cleaning fee this property charges I would have expected it to be much cleaner when we arrived. The kitchen floor was also awkward to walk on because most of the tiles were loose in the subfloor with grout missing and wobbled when walked on. Potential guests should be aware that the layout of the house is a bit strange. Two of the bedrooms are on the lower level of this split level home, which in itself is no big deal, but the lower level is open to an unfinished laundry area and the rest of the basement. A highlight of the stay was the movie theater. The owner did a nice job on this space but it took us a few minutes to find it since you have to go through a utility room in the unfinished area of the basement to get there. Overall, this property wasn't for me and I would not book again but it could be great with more attention to cleaning and a bit of maintenance work.
