About this cottage rental

Would you like to get to know the local flavor of downtown Stuart? Would you like to explore by biking the area? Minutes from the beaches, shopping and restaurants? We are looking for people who don't want the typical hotel experience.
We live in a great location and love it here! The main house, which we live in, overlooks the St Lucie River, The cottage sits in front of the main house which gives you complete privacy and lets you come and go as you please. We have lived here since 1984 and done extensive renovation to a 1930's home and cottage. The property has been like an art piece for us. When we bought the property, the yard was minimally landscaped and the house needed major work. Over the years, we have converted our property into a wonderful, nature lover's haven. Our yard looks like something you'd find in Key West. We are organic gardeners and grow pineapples, papaya, key times, veggies and lettuces in our garden boxes along with many herbs. We share whatever is in season. If you are looking for a great experience, you'll find it here! We live on the St Lucie River and allow our guests to enjoy our dock for sunsets or a morning coffee. A beach in our yard provides a quiet get away for reading.

The Cottage details:
Shared washer and dryer with owners. The cottage is equipped with a separate kitchenette to include a frig/freezer, induction hot plate, large toaster oven, juicer, blender, pans, dishes, glassware, and utensils. OOMPLETELY EQUIPPED! The cottage has a dining table w/4 chairs, a very comfy queen bed, a leather sofa, coffee table and end table, wall unit with cable flat screen tv, wireless internet, chest of drawers, closet, vac, linens, beach towels, beach chairs and umbrella, 2 bikes, and a separate bathroom with a shower. In the front of the cottage is a small garden with a gas weber BBQ grill. Enjoy mornings in the garden drinking a cup of Joe or for an evening dinner. We try to give you complete privacy, but are always available for any questions that you may have. The cottage AC is a split unit which is very quiet as the compressor sits outside on the ground like central AC. The floors are all tile for easy maintenance. We have included games and books. Additionally, we have a book on the dining table with all of our favorite things to do and places to go. We include an Enjoyment Book for all of our visitors', use that discounts (2 for 1) local restaurants and activities. We hope you'll try us for a exceptional vacation experience.
Additionally, two bikes are available for use should you like to cruise the area in slow motion :-)
We will collect a 5% county bed tax upon arrival. VRBO collects the FL sales tax, but the county tax is our responsibility. The total of the tax is calculated on the weekly rate + the cleaning fee.

This cottage is an absolute hidden gem in Stuart. I stayed for a week and it was perfect for my needs. It’s a studio, so it’s great for a single visitor or a couple. Comfortable bed and a very well-appointed kitchen—small but mighty—with plenty of dishes, cookware, small appliances, coffee makers (Keurig with pods, and drip), sharp knives, silverware and extras (sugar, sweeteners, straws, wine opener, etc.) No dishwasher, but that was fine since I ate out lots and easily washed the minimal dishes I used. Christi & George were fabulous hosts! George greeted me to show me the lay of the land, including bicycles for my use (which I unfortunately didn’t get to use), laundry & their GLORIOUS garden and pathway to the fire pit area and a long dock, where you can walk out to watch the river. Lucky me… there was a nesting pair of ospreys on the next dock over! Literally 20 feet from our dock, where you could watch the parents fish and care for their young. Truly a great experience for nature lovers. The cottage is separate from the main house, so you come and go without bothering anyone. Great location to downtown Stuart; it’s only half a mile at most to all the shops and restaurants. The bathroom had one sink, good countertop space and a single shower (not too small) with good water pressure. Many extra towels, washcloths, amenities, drawer space, lots of hangers, & beach chairs, towels and cooler. This will be my go-to place whenever I visit Stuart again, as it was perfect for me!

The Cottage is a comfortable studio-sized space, with a complete bathroom and fully equipped galley kitchen, each separate from the living space. It’s a comfortable, easy room, with welcoming hosts who provide a well-appointed, quiet Stuart retreat. The property is a private ‘jungle’ of lush tropical plants and flowers, a relaxed seating area, and, out back, a dock retreat right on the St. Lucie River. More than fine for me, as a single visitor. I came for the beaches, but ‘discovered’ old Stuart, just an easy walk down a quiet, tree-shaded street. With beach-town shops, a laid-back coffee house, a variety of restaurants, and superb sweet treats, it was an unexpected addition to my stay. The vintage Lyric Theater is a venue for touring musicians, and I took in a sensational show by a classic rock photographer responsible for iconic album covers. Also went to the local community theater for a well-presented musical at Stuart’s Barn Theater! So, a lovely respite by excellent hosts in an area with much to do within easy reach, a stay I can highly recommend.

We loved our stay at Roonie's! The cottage had everything we needed and much more! We enjoyed watching the sunsets from the dock and the resident osprey provided some wonderful photo ops. Downtown Stuart was just a walk away and the boardwalk and Sunday market were fun. George and Cristi were fabulous and friendly hosts and were happy to share their local knowledge about the area.

The Fuller's were amazing hosts. Location was close to downtown, but also quiet and peaceful. Coffee on the river each morning was great.
