About this house rental

This 19th century 'Petit Chateau' is just beautiful and the moment you step in you feel the elegance and style! Located just on the outskirts of the charming village of Gontaud de Nogaret with everything you would need in terms of shops, restaurants and services, this house will wow you with its style! Once you enter through the gates you are in a different world...The house is set in secluded grounds of almost 8000 square meters of parkland and there is a variety of mature trees which make the garden very private. You enter the property through gates from the main road and there is a double garage at the entrance together with additional parking space. The driveway continues to the front entrance - an impressive front door leading to a spacious hallway tiled with classic black and white tiles. The attractive stone staircase rises majestically from the hall.
To the left double doors lead to the dining room and here there is an attractive marble fireplace, glazed doors to the front terrace and the whole floor is solid oak. This room directly communicates with the lounge area (38.33m2) and has windows looking over the rear of the property. The center piece is a marvelous chandelier . On this floor you have an unusually shaped kitchen located in the hexagonal tower; the present owners have installed oak kitchen units. Beside the kitchen is a useful cloakroom with W.C and hand washbasin.
The superb stone staircase rises from the spacious hall to the first floor and landing. Here we have a W.C and the most adorable room in the tower! The main bedroom has views to the front of the house and this room also benefits from its own boudoir and en suite bathroom with corner bath, bidet and washbasin. In addition this bedroom has a balcony to enjoy the morning sun.
On the other side of the corridor you find 2 more bedrooms - one has a door connecting to the bathroom.

The top floor is accessed by the most beautiful wooden spiral staircase - this has been made by artisans in exotic wood with an inlaid design. This floor (66.8m2) is an amazing space - perfect for extended sleeping area, playroom or studio. There is in addition another little bed room in the pigeonnier area of the house with Japanese style sliding door.
Accommodation includes 6 Bedrooms consisting of 3 double and 3 Double with additional single beds .

In the southwest corner of France, midway between Toulouse and Bordeaux, is situated the Lot-et-Garonne department. Ideally placed just 2 hours from the Atlantic coast, 2 hours from the Pyrenees and a mere 3 hours down to the Mediterranean. This enchanting department within the region of Aquitaine is a perfect location when you’re considering a new home in France – easily accessible and perfect as a base for exploring other areas of France throughout the year.
The department is extremely well served with transport links: the International airports of Brive, Bergerac and Bordeaux offer regular flights operated by several of the low-cost airlines to the UK, as well as other flights to numerous European destinations. Excellent motorways network across the country and the TGV and LGV high-speed trains deliver you to destinations such as Bordeaux, Paris and onwards to London St Pancras in very little time nowadays.
The Canal Latéral de la Garonne (part of the Canal du Midi) is a major feature in the region, along which the remaining few working barges still sail. You could never get tired of the local views; expansive and timeless, they sweep across the wooded hillsides and down through the valleys of well-maintained agricultural land. The Lot-et-Garonne is well known too for the quality of its produce; prunes from Agen, tomatoes and strawberries from Marmande, Armagnac brandy, apples, pears, kiwis and cherries … This also, is a prolific wine growing area, with Duras and Buzet being amongst the most well known. Duck too, in its many forms, is highly celebrated here: foie gras, magret, confit and gésiers are all to be found in restaurants and shops across the department and beyond.
All year round there are busy food markets in many towns and villages and they’re the perfect place to meet up with friends for a coffee or maybe something a little stronger! A chance too, to sample the many local cheeses, preserved meats, paté, breads and so forth - the way of life here has remained virtually unchanged for centuries. During the summer months, towns come to life in celebration of the long, balmy days - the château at Duras, for example, plays host to an opera, classical concerts and even the occasional rock concert. There are farmer's markets, wine fairs, antique fairs, village fêtes and the ever popular "vide greniers" (flea markets) with no end of country treasures to be discovered!
Explore the historic Chateaux of Biron, Lauzun, Lamothe, Scandaillac and Nerac, also the medieval towns such as Castillones, Monflanquin and Villereal are atmospheric and a real joy to stroll around too. If you enjoy walking, this is definitely the area for you, with numerous tracks marked out.
However, when the early morning rays of sunshine give way to autumn mist across the hillside, the trees start turning their glorious gold brown and the sound in the sky of the cranes migrating south - the Lot-et-Garonne turns its attention to preparing for the winter months ahead: bottling produce from the garden and gathering grapes off the vines in readiness for enjoying long peaceful evenings in front of a roaring oak fire, with all that you could wish for in life to hand.
