We stayed June 2018, it was our honeymoon. Overall we had a pleasant stay, but only after we did a lot of work to the property ourselves. It had obviously been empty for a long time before we arrived. The place was overgrown, the driveway/entrance looked like an old disused farm track, it took us a VERY long time to find it as we drove by several times. Poor directions and the entrance unrecognisable. The gardener had visited just before our arrival, so the cut grass was lying about in lumps and the grass was brown. Most of the flowers were dead. Some garden furniture was broken and unusable. The place looked kind of abandoned with old spooky falling down sheds and buildings. The garden was just messy. Overgrown in areas, paths and patio full of weeds, trees overhanging the patio and the railings around it were loose and in a dangerous condition. A definite look and feel of neglect and abandonment. a real shame. Nothing like the photos which had obviously been taken some years ago. Inside smelt damp. We had to do extra cleaning to make it ok. The bedding was damp so we had to air it before use. The curtains did not cover the windows. On some windows there was only one curtain to cover half the window!! We had to hang blankets over the windows to sleep (I'm not joking). This property needs a lot of work. It is in a pleasant area. It was ok after we did extra cleaning, covered the windows, removed the trees overhanging the patio, covered the dirty settee with a blanket etc. I wanted to leave the first night but my wife made the place much nicer with a lot of hard work. Eventually we did have a nice holiday with our dog and had lots of bbq's on the patio. The owner gave us our deposit back for the bedding but really should of offered more. This property has potential, has all the amenities and is about a twenty minute walk from town and the beach and the local area and beaches are very quiet and pretty. Great for dog owners. But the owner really needs to visit it and spend some time and money putting things right. I would recommend going if the above issues are addressed.
