For a family of 6, the house worked well. Seating for 8 in a living area is hard to find. The deck was nice, even if the mosquitoes limited our use of it a bit. This wasn't really an issue because of the VIEW - from any window! The walk down to the cove is really magical with amazing ferns and other woodland plants. However, at least in June, don't go early in the morning and if you do go later, layer on the bug spray. The house is about 20-30 minutes from Bar Harbor; we did a lot of driving. Southeast and Northeast Harbors were a bit closer. Popovers at the Asticou were quite dear; we expected that. However, we were so glad to have gone. In spite of being fresh off a hike and tour of Thuya garden, they welcomed us with good grace. The popovers, good coffee, service and view from the deck were well worth it. We went on a whale watching cruise with Bar Harbor Whale Watching. They were very accommodating, helping us reschedule out cruise to avoid the rain. We had a lovely calm day and did see 5 whales, different birds and a harbor porpoise (very cute). It's a steep ticket for 6, but we were glad to have done it.Some of us roused ourselves for the sunrise hike up Cadillac Mtn. We powered through a bike ride around the 3 lakes and enjoyed the stroll around Jordan Pond. Thunder Hole - it seems an incoming storm is required to inspire the effect. Having said that, we explored the shoreline and tide pools. All in all, a lovely week. Thank you to our hostesses!

We loved this property—private, wooded, clean, and big enough to host six family members. While staying here, we read books on the deck and enjoyed the tree-line view and bay in the distance. Several of the sunsets were beautiful. And we did see several deer on two occasions.
