AWD essential during winter and early spring! New in 2025—air conditioning!
The Stanley cabin property (land) was originally owned by the famous F. O. Stanley (who built the Stanley Hotel with his twin brother) and sits above town on 0.6 acres, enjoying views of the Twin Owls, Lumpy Ridge and Lake Estes from the main open plan living area and some of the bedrooms. Enjoy the best of both worlds with the ability to take a leisurely 15 or so minute walk into town, while still feeling secluded at the cabin. The location is perfect! You are so close to town, yet you can also bypass the downtown crowds to get to the RMNP.
Stanley cabin has two master suites, that each have direct access to one of three expansive decks. Each master suite has its own 32" flat screen TV (with DirecTV) and sitting area. The downstairs master also has it's own small gas stove to enjoy.
You will love catching up with friends and family in the open plan kitchen, dining, living area. The kitchen faces large windows that has a great view of the twin owls. There is additional seating at the kitchen peninsular to catch-up while cooking or baking. There is also an 8-seater table with additional stools at the kitchen peninsula and direct access from the kitchen / dining onto the deck through a sliding glass door where you can sit at the large picnic table and enjoy the beautiful scenery, or look out for deer, elk, bobcats, coyotes, rabbits, chipmunks and squirrels who all have been known to frequent the cabin. If you prefer to relax in front of a fire and watch TV, a large 50" screen TV sits above the fireplace to do just that.
When traveling on vacation you often need to pack lightly! There is a full sized stackable washer / dryer available on the main level for guests to use as needed.
Please note that there are 4 bedrooms that include 2 king size and 2 queen size beds. Two high-end sleeper cots are available to provide flexibility in sleeping arrangements for 2 additional people taking the total to 10 which is what the cabin is licensed to sleep. Also, the property has central heating AND air conditioning! Every room has either a ceiling or pedestal fan and most of the windows are screened.
During winter, a 4WD is recommended in general for commuting around Estes Park. A 4WD is necessary for our drive way, however if you are willing to park on the street, there is a front entrance with easy access.

The host was very helpful with our stay - answered questions, offered us good info for our visit, the Stanley Cabin was excellent in location and in good condition and clean, well stocked, and my family had a blast. Everything was in working order. This is our 2nd or 3rd stay in the Stanley Cabin! It is GREAT in every way. Thanks to the owner of the Stanley Cabin and to VRBO!

Everything was great. Nice walk to the golf course each morning to watch the elk. Pleasant neighborhood. Quiet and convenient to RMNP and town.

Perfect size and layout. The kitchen area is modern and the appliances look new. The property has wear and tear - Specifically lamps and fans that need replacing and a cracked and taped picture window. Otherwise the property is homey and comfortable. Beds and furniture are adequate. The location is quiet and even though it’s in a neighborhood it is extremely quiet and private. My immediate family of siblings and spouses all aged from early 60s to mid 70s didn’t enjoy all the stairs and the steep driveway, but we endured and managed. We especially enjoyed the social area and spent most of the time around the dining room table. This is the Stanley family cabin so we decided it was appropriate to view “The Shining “. We all would stay here again and recommend to friends.

Seeing a herd of elk grazing in the yard for an hour was a thrill for everyone. Beds and bedding were good except for the rollaways (both the frames were unstable so we had the little ones just sleep on the mattresses on the floor). Good location for getting into the park and around town. Decent kitchen. Nice selection of board games. But way too many things were out of repair or in bad condition that I had to notify the host about. Like broken windows, hand soap and towels in short supply, LR chairs (all 3) with seats so broke you had to sit on a pillow to be comfortable, and more. None of it awful, but not what I'd expect from a rental home at this level.
