The Grade II listed cottage is a former shooting residence of the Earl of Marlborough. The building dates back to the 1700s and has retained many of it original features but has recently undergone a thorough modernisation. The original slate floor in the kitchen and huge inglenook fireplace provide a cosy setting for a family get together in front of the wood-burning stove. The private hot tub in the enclosed garden with views out over the valley provide a great setting any time of the year.

Cosy and welcoming abode. Great surrounding area with plenty of walks, abundant nature and crisp fresh air. One tiny issue was the hotel directly opposite the cottage which was at times rather loud on our first night. The second and third night was however extremely peaceful. Many thanks.

The hot tub, log burner and comfy bedding were all great to have.
There were a few finishes that weren’t perfect, like the tap didn’t work in the bath (used the shower head instead) and there weren’t loads of mugs- fine for us as only two adults but if the cottage had been full we’d have had to do a lot of washing up!

Located across the road from a community ran pub and t the heart of some amazing walks with beautiful waterfalls. Hot tub was lovely especially after the walks. Comfortable bedding and great kitchen diner space. We came as a family of 6 adults so we mainly used the kitchen as the lounge area had limited seating for 6 people but the kitchen was comfortable enough.
The only main down side was the communication from Finest Retreats, it all came across quite regimented and negative there were many ….can’t do this……Do not do that…. then we were up and ready to leave on our last day to get a final message that we had already been told prior to our visit explaining we need to be out by 10am any lateness will result in a delay for the cleaner and further charges will be added to our card sadly this left a bad taste to such a lovely break.

The location is perfect, beautiful setting in amongst the hills. Well equipped property, had everything we needed.
Mould on walls in bedroom, hot tap in bathroom drips and spa pool filter change was 4 days overdue on arrival. As an old property you expect uneven floor boards and worn furnishings, but a lot of dust on surfaces and window seats, curtains and cushions could do with a clean.

Hot tub was great to relax in after a day of walking. Had a lovely meal at the pub across the road.
The first night we were there all the smoke alarms kept going off every 10 minutes…..after about 2 hours we were able to get in contact with someone to sort it out, they were very responsive!

The hot tub in the backyard is well concealed and offers a great view. The kitchen is spacious and well equipped. The beds are good.
No toilet on the ground floor and a shower close to the hot tub would be convenient (there is enough space to realize that). The house is very comfortable for two persons, also suitable for four, but definitely not for six, although it has six beds. The cottage is quite pricy.

The house is very well presented with the added bonus of the hot tub (with amazing views).
Location excellent for the 2 x Zip World sites we visited and Harlech Beach!
We had a great time here and would definitely return / recommend to friends.
It would have been 5* from me if there had been a welcome pack, i.e Milk, Bread, Bottle of wine etc... I would have expected this based on the cost of the property for 4 days.
