The house is spacious and comfortable, situated in a quiet but convenient area. Avola is 5 minutes away, the motorway linking Messina, Catania, Siracusa and Gela is also a few minutes drive from the house.A car is essential. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. If we had a problem they responded immediately. As for this area of Sicily there is lots to do. Beach lovers are well catered for and there are plenty of possibilities for hikers. The beautiful towns of Siracusa, Noto, Ragusa and Modica are within easy reach. We would certainly love to go back.

Our flight into Catania got in late and by the time we had collected our hire car and headed towards the house it was later still. But Gesualdo and Anna kindly met us on the outskirts of Avola and showed us the way to the house, which was extremely helpful. The house had two good sized bedrooms and was well equipped generally, although there wasn't a kettle. When we contacted Aldo and Anna they brought one round immediately! There is a lovely shaded area to the front of the house which is ideal for sitting out at any time of the day, and we did because the weather was just perfect. The single track road to the house was a minor challenge (especially in a hire car) but when you got used to it and knew the places you could pull in it was okay. We would have appreciated some tourist information literature in the house letting visitors know about local attractions, because we wanted to look around the island and our guide book was quite limiting. Most of all the lack of internet was a blow, because we usually research our trips out relying on that as a resource. It wasn't provided even though the advert said it was.
