About this cottage rental

Head for the hills…and the dancing daffodils. In the expansive grounds of a 16th-century timber-framed house, is the perfect retreat à deux. Way up a simple track, you already feel yourself unwinding as you approach your traditional timber framed hideaway awaiting you. The cottage sits in unspoilt rolling countryside and was built entirely out of locally sourced stone, oak and handcrafted leaded light windows. Inside you will be met by a cottage built by a Master Craftsmen with fine details, charm and character. Settle on the weighty leather sofa next to the wood-burner stacked high with logs from the nearby woods. The kitchen is well equipped, open plan and nestled around the Aga, the floor is made out of natural stone with underfloor heating. As you climb up the oak staircase you will be met by an open plan bedroom, dressing room overlooking the sitting room below from the galleried landing. It would be a treat of an evening to follow the babbling brook through the ancient orchid-dotted woodland.
Rest awhile at the owner's perfect little bothy, then retire to your own secluded little garden with its picture-postcard views across open pastures to the Teme and Kyre valleys. Venture further to ‘foodie’ Ludlow full of fabulous various restaurants, book-lined Hay-on-Wye, Ironbridge industrial heritage, the magnificent Malvern Hills is a wonderful way to spend the afternoon walking. Ludlow Castle, Croft Castle, Eastnor Castle and many more National Trust properties are within easy distance. Take to the slow life on the steam railway, stride out on the Mortimer Trail, meander through forgotten Herefordshire villages.
Leading directly from the cottage is an extensive network of footpaths and bridleways where badgers, woodpeckers, buzzards and owls may be seen. Buzzards soar overhead, rabbits scamper in the fields that surround you. Tenbury wells, an attractive spa and market town in the Teme Valley is 4 miles away and the fine Georgian town of Ludlow is only a 15 minute drive.

Ebony Cottage is a delightful timber framed house. Ellie made us feel very welcome. The house is about a mile up a track from the road. Surrounded by sheep and lambs. Secure garden for the dog to run around.

Location of the property was beautiful and our dogs loved it but there were a few things that let it down. The photos on the website dont reflect what it actually looks like on the outside. It shows a very open green space however the grass area in front of the property and to the side has a hedge all the way round. Wasn't a bad thing as it gave us an enclosed space for the dogs but think it should be shown on the images for clarity. Inside the property there are some upgrades needed: one of the sofas has sunken on one side so not very comfortable, the toilet seat was loose & moved when you sat on it, the shower head needs replacing as no matter what setting you put it on the water went wherever it wanted to go, and the Aga is not practical at all. It took 3 hours to warm it up enough to put a pizza in and even then it took 45 minutes to cook. It actually took longer to cool down than it did to warm up and in 22°c heat it made the inside of the property like a sauna! The dishwasher was also a bit of a hazard as it would tip forward whenever you loaded it on the top. The host was polite but i found it a little off putting that we were interrupted within 10 minutes of arrival to ensure we handed over cash for the 2nd dog (the original booking didnt give an option to put more than 1). She also decided to mow the lawn area in front of the property early one evening which made us feel a little uncomfortable and wasnt really necessary as could have been done after we'd left.
