The Retreat is the award winning luxury holiday annexe adjoining Wolferlow House, the former rectory, set in beautiful scenery on the Herefordshire / Worcestershire border.
The highlight is the exclusive use of a totally private 9m indoor heated swimming pool and a Finnish sauna - entirely to yourselves.
The Retreat comprises a luxurious double bedroom with en-suite shower featuring a king size bed and Chinese furniture. A proper fold-out double bed settee allows extra sleeping in the sitting area. Double doors and a Juliet balcony give views across the croquet lawn. The fully equipped kitchen is tucked in the corner of the generous living area with flat screen TV, comfortable chairs and a dining table. A wide double-glazed glass screen leads to an elevated paved balcony with outdoor seating and distant views over farmland to the church and Wolferlow Court.
The large gardens used to be open each year for the National Garden Scheme and include an orchard, wildflower meadow with ponds, herbaceous borders and distant views across farmland.
Well away from any busy roads the seven acre property is quiet, peaceful and private.
Attention to detail includes the provision of top quality bed linen, towels and towelling robes.
The Retreat is ideal for a couple looking for a romantic and luxury getaway or to bring the baby / younger children and enjoy a family time together.

We had an amazing winter stay at this holiday home! The place was spotless, super comfortable, and had everything we needed for a relaxing break. The indoor heated pool and sauna were absolute highlights — nothing beats a swim and a good steam while it’s freezing outside! It really is tucked away in the middle of nowhere, but that made it even more peaceful. No noise, no crowds, just fresh air, starry skies, and total relaxation. If you’re after a cozy getaway with a touch of luxury, this is the perfect spot.

Easy to find with Google maps but nice and out of the way in a lovely rural setting to give you the experience of a retreat!All the essentials are provided to you on site, the pool and sauna, whilst not essential did start to feel that way after a couple of days. I did some work whilst there, the internet was very capable of teams meetings. There are some lovely views to be had. The hosts were incredibly friendly and full of local knowledge, though also leave you be in the peace and quiet on offer. I was given some of their apple juice which was frankly outstanding. You really do feel the space is your own as it is tucked away from the hosts main residence, and exclusive use of the pool was amazing.I enjoyed my stay immensely I'm sure you would too.

Amazing, property exactly as described, beautiful location, most relaxing holiday we have been on, was able to totally unwind, access to the swimming pool anytime was great, then a couple of steps to the sauna, finish of with a fun game of table tennis [beating hubby was an added bonus]. The information provided by the hosts was so detailed and provided everything from supermarkets, pubs, restaurants, GP access, Hospitals, they literally covered everything. We had the opportunity of having a couple of conversations with Jill who was lovely and always happy to help [not that we had any problems, was just getting some local knowledge and more information on the property itself]. There are lots of walks and the gardens are beautiful with access all areas. I will definitely be visiting again and have even sent the information through to family members who are considering a visit - Five stars does not seem sufficient but that is the most I could give - thank you Jill and Stuart

We really enjoyed our stay at the Retreat. Despite the cold weather outside the flat was warm and cosy, a great space to relax and unwind.We enjoyed the swimming pool and sauna which we used most days. It was great to have the use of those facilities.We also loved exploring the area , the historical towns and churches.It was lovely to meet Stuart and Jill who were so friendly and helpful and we also appreciated the home grown apple juice they gave us.We would definitely visit again

The owners, Stuart and Jill, were both welcoming and friendly. Lovely people. We were shown around and everything was explained clearly. As they live on site, they offered us any help or advice should we need it, otherwise they happily left us to it.Everything was spotlessly clean and warm. The pool house was too, with immaculately kept pool and sauna. The water, unfortunately, was very cold and put a damper on the experience. We had been assured that the water was heated twice a day to 30’ ….it might well be, in the boiler, but the temperature in the pool water was more like 20’. Maybe a pool thermometer would be a good idea to keep an eye on this. Such a shame. I’m used to swimming daily in 25’ which is comfortable if you keep swimming, so I was looking forward to lovely long and warm swims!However, it was great having the sauna and a hot shower in the pool house to warm up with afterwards. There was an abundance of towels around which was much appreciated.The bed was comfortable and the WI-FI good for us. We didn’t watch any tv, so can’t comment on that. The kitchen had just enough basics for us as a couple.Not a lot of views, because there was a big bush in front of the front door/ French windows, but fabulous to get out and about with access to the lovely orchard and plenty of walks around. We left feeling rested and restored.

Overall a very nice stay at this property. We did work from home a few days so strong WiFi was important, so I did msg in advance if it would be suitable and was reassured. However we did find it patchy on speed - it was fine most of the time for streaming 5-8mb, but running virtual desktops or video conferencing it wasn't fast enough on the upload ~1mb. We actually managed to use some 4G with faster connection. So something to consider if you have to work from home. It's a remote rural location. Countryside and downs nearby are beautiful.

Tucked away down a little country lane, but close enough for a short drive to shops etc. Lots of places to visit locally. The property was exactly as described. Perfect for a few days spent relaxing, swimming and generally just recharging batteries. The hosts were lovely, on hand if required but otherwise we were left to enjoy the gardens, pool and sauna. Would recommend to anyone wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

We had a lovely very relaxing time here. Hosts were super friendly during our stay. The area and location of property is very nice. One issue that we felt was misleading was not having a picture of the property from where guests enter from.There is a flight of stairs that must be used to enter into the property were the kitchen and bedroom are located. During rainy days it’s hard and scary to use or even in the dark where there is a little bit of lighting. Especially having a pre walker it’s difficult. Upon our arrival we were settling in upstairs and there were a lot of bugs in corners and spider webs. The bedroom area had ladybugs near the windows and near the curtains where the balcony is. We ended up having a hornet in the blinds on the window the day we’re departing. During our stay the wifi was on and off again so we had a few issues with that but it’s understandable due to the location of the property. The signal in the whole area is very bad but again it’s in the middle of nowhere. One night during our stay we had no hot water working. Downstairs is the pool area so you have to go down the stairs and round the house to access the indoor pool. The pool area is very nice. Could do with another pump to help the water stay warm otherwise for us it wasn’t warm enough. For 2 days in the shower room of the pool there was a salamander or lizard it was black. We didn’t use the shower room downstairs at all. Lastly the pan/pots provided are not that great to use

We stayed for a week and Stuart was fantastic. I was late arriving as I had a slight problem with my youngest daughter who had fallen ill. Stuart was extremely understanding and helpful. Met me outside the property and gave me an excellent tour of the property and swimming pool which was very helpful. Was given a bottle of apple juice which was all home made from Stuart's own orchard, both my daughter and I loved it and was so tasty, a lovely thought from Stuart and Jill. It was also one of the cleanest properties I have stayed in, it was a credit to them both. They think of everything to make your stay as perfect as possible and I can't thank them enough. The surrounding area and land around where you are based is beautiful and amazing. Stuart has 2 horse in the fields next to the property and my daughter fell in love with them both, feeding them the odd apple from Stuart's orchard. It was such a quiet place to stay,bperfect if you require a bit of peace and quiet. We had full access to the swimming pool 24/7 which was fantastic, lovely clean pool and a spotlessly clean changing room with shower facilities. There is a Sauna which we never got time to use,which to be honest I am gutted about as I really wanted to use the sauna,but hey that's my fault. A truly remarkable place to stay and I would not hesitate it recommending this property for an amazing week away, it was truly amazing and rewarding. Thank you Stuart and Jill, we will be back .

We stayed at The Retreat for 7 days and what an amazing time we had! The accommodation itself was clean, spacious and had everything you needed. With extra special touches like unlimited towels and robes for when you got out of the private pool, which was completely your own throughout the duration of your stay. You could enjoy this pool any time of the day or evening and it even had a sauna and table tennis table for you to enjoy! It was so beautiful and quiet and it was so nice to overlook the orchard and hear and see the horses in the morning whilst sitting on the veranda having a cup of tea. Jill and Stuart were lovely people, kind and helpful and were there even for just a chat. They really did make it a perfect holiday for myself and my daughter who doesn't like a lot of people around. I would really recommend this place to anyone, especially if it's quiet and tranquil you are looking for and with the added bonus of the swimming pool for the children and adults it really does make it a perfect holiday. We will definitely be booking again and it was worth every penny!

We had a lovely time staying here,the owners gave us absolute privacy. We had the apartment and pool / sauna along with a whole orchard to walk in to ourselves. There are lots of bridle ways to go walking right on the door step. Our every need was met by our hosts. The only thing to note is the pool was quite cold but once you braved it,it was really refreshing! Would come again

Booked last minute ( night before ) Easter Break for Family of four. Stuart responded very quickly and met us when we arrived, and gave us a tour. The apartment was as advertised , as was the pool , which the kids loved , using it every day. The location is very peaceful with wonderful views.

We had a lovely time at the property. It has everything you need to have an enjoyable stay. The pool and sauna were definitely the highlight especially as English weather was predictably rainy. Yes the pool was a little chilly but the kids didn’t seem to mind and the sauna was amazing to warm up in after a swim. We enjoyed playing table tennis as well. There is no DVD player as described in the listing so something to keep in mind. We explored the local area a bit as well. The mappa mundi in Hereford cathedral was fascinating and we enjoyed the black and white history trail in Weobley. Overall a fabulous stay and we’ll definitely be back.

The Retreat was a great place to stay for the festive period. It was warm, cosy and bright even on dull and rainy days. The kitchen was excellent and had pretty much everything we needed to cook and serve our Christmas lunch. The fairy lights and the Christmas tree outside certainly helped to make it festive. The pool and table tennis were absolutely lovely and we enjoyed having a swim every day. Would certainly be a great place to return to in the summer. We enjoyed exploring this area of Worcestershire, Ludlow, Stourport on Severn and the Severn Valley Railway on Boxing Day was a great day out. We would definitely recommend.

We had the loveliest time at the retreat.. We made good use of the pool and sauna, even ordered some pool toys for our stay whilst there.. This is a beautiful location with the perfect view of sun rise which I enjoyed. Lots of places and nice pubs to visit nearby, even went to Alton Towers one day. We would definitely stay again and recommend.

Loved the stay jill and Stuart are both lovely hosts nothing was too much trouble. This was set in beautiful natural surroundings. The accomadation had everything you needed and the pool was icing on the cake you had it all too yourself loads to do in the surrounding areas. 2 beautiful horses which my 2 kids fell in love with. This is deffinately a place we will be returning too. We would like to thank both Jill, Stuart and the family.

We had a fabulous time on a family staycation. Our children 11 and 14 especially enjoyed swimming everyday. There is so much to do hiking, National Trust and English Heritage properties and lovely villages to explore. So much history. The apartment was well supplied, clean and served us well. Jill and Stuart are incredibly welcoming. Crumpet the dog was lovely too. Cannot recommend The Retreat enough.

Me and my husband had an amazimg few days at the retreat. The apartment and pool were perfect for us and in an amazing peaceful location. Even though we didn't take our children, we know that they would have loved it especially the pool and orchid to run around. The external areas of the property need maintenance, i.e. weed removal, cutting back of overgrown bushes, better external lighting. If the trees were cut back then the view from inside the apartment would be great Inside the property we needed to empty and defrost the freezer before use, the cushions on chairs at the dining table where ripped with springs hanging from the bottom of one, there was a lack of cupbboard space as to many pieces of equipment had been put in them and even something as simple as replacing a cutlery tray in the drawer due to it being cracked with holes in had not been done. Moving on to the main bedroom, nothing co-ordinated and this is something you would expect in a property, ie. bedside lights were odd, drawers, wardrobes and dressers all different, curtains and bedding didn't compliment each other. The other sleeping area in the lounge, it would benefit from curtains on the windows and doors. Something was scratching on the door windows at 5am on two consecutive mornings waking us up. The pool, although a nice bonus we didn't enjoy as we found it to be cold and both our children came out in rashes, with one having a severe reaction that caused his face to swell which resulted in him not being able to open his eyes properly for two days. We left the property on Thursday morning instead of Saturday morning and this is something we have never done before. The property in our opinion is not worth the money that we paid for it. We would not recommend to friends and wouldn't return.

Really enjoyed our stay at the Retreat. The surroundings are lovely and it is so quiet there. Never seen the stars this clear in the UK. Having the pool was great and we used it everyday. There was one problem which could do with being resolved and that is the squeaky/creaky bed. Getting a full nights sleep was hard because the slightest movement caused the bed to make a racket. But everything else was perfect.

We really enjoyed the stay, didn't realise the apartment was attached to the house and as such the you can see into their conservartory and i'm assuming vice versa. Still it was very beautiful. Hearing the horses and sheep in the mornings and evenings was lovely. The wifi was patchy though. The garden isn't overly private, which we'd have prefered since the family are often out and about on the property. However, the pool and sauna were very well used and we felt very relaxed by weeks end.

This was a lovely place to stay: clean, beautiful location, peaceful and a brilliant pool all to ourselves. We didn't use the sauna, but we did play plenty of table tennis. A really great place that acted as an excellent base for days out and lovely evenings in. Our daughter loved it, as did our dog. We'd taken a camp bed with us for our daughter to sleep on in the bedroom (there's plenty of space), but unfortunately I (Dad) snored, so we needed to make use of the accommodation's sofa bed. This is the only real downside of The Retreat as the two sky lights in the living room (where the sofa bed is) don't have blinds (the bedroom does), and the east-facing full-wall windows and doors have no curtains. So, from 6am the sun is streaming in. I tried a face mask, but it really didn't help much. Just being able to block out the light would make a huge difference. We'd love to go back, and hope to book again, but probably just as a couple. The little freezer compartment in the fridge really does need defrosting, and the bed is very squeeky through just rolling onto your side, but these are minor niggles. The hosts are very friendly, and leave you to yourselves throughout the stay. This really is a lovely peaceful place in some beautiful countryside, and the pool just makes it fantastic.

The Retreat was great place to relax. Disappointed that the pathway and paved area were unkempt. The fridge ‘s ice box was very iced up, bedroom furniture was very noisy and no were to hang up clothing. Overall we didn’t feel it was value for the money spent on the holiday and definitely wouldn’t return. Also the owners left no instructions on what to do when leaving

A warm welcome and we were shown around our accomodation straight away. Very clean property and comfortable and very friendly owners, however a small thing but very much needed is blackout blinds in the lounge area so that the person sleeping in there does not get awaken at 4.30am by the light and darker curtains or a complete blackout needed in the bedroom, the bed is very creaky/noisey on the slightest move to turn over so a good nights sleep is difficult, but apart from those things a great stay.

Arrived and were met by the owner. Tour of the apartment and the pool area and sauna. Home pressed bottle of apple juice was a nice touch from their own orchards. Used the pool and sauna every day around 3.30pm till 6pm after going out to National trust and antique shops during the day. Great place to relax. unfortunately the weather was to cold to sit on the terrace in front of the pool. Great vendors and it did what it said on the TIN 5*

Stayed for my wife's 50th birthday. Host was there to greet us on arrival, showing us how everything worked.. Having the private pool and sauna to yourself 24/7 was fantastic.. The surrounding area is beautiful, no light pollution so a good torch recommended in the winter months. Visited Bromyard, Hereford, Leominster, Tenbury and our personal favourite Ludlow, A perfect break if your looking to get away from it all.
