The only saving grace is its location near the airport—perfect for a quick layover. But that's where the positives end. Checked in for one night, went to the room, and discovered zero water—not for the shower, not for the toilet, hot or cold. Nothing.
I headed to reception asking for another room or a fix. The staffer promised to follow me right away. Waited 20 minutes—no show. Went back, and she admitted it wasn't just my room; the entire hotel's water supply had "technical issues." Suggested we switch to another hotel nearby. I agreed, but she vanished for another 15 minutes. Finally, water trickled back on... barely.
On top of that, the room reeked with a bad smell, no bed towels in sight, and the whole facility screamed for major maintenance—peeling walls, outdated everything. Total nightmare. Won't return.

After being re-routed onto another flight with two different carriers, we arrived at Dar Es Salaam two hours later than planned. Complications with our luggage then meant that it was a further hour before we got to Transit Motel Ukonga.
Our taxi driver woke the host at 2 in the morning, and she was subsequently cooking breakfast for us for 7am for our onward flight!
She also arranged for a taxi to get us to the airport promptly after breakfast.
The hotel is in a busy area of Dar Es Salaam and although it's on the edge of the airport, you'll need a taxi to get there.
The aircon was not the most aggressive, but in combination with the ceiling fan helped us get some sleep in the few hours that we were there.
The bathroom floor was very smooth and was quite slippery when wet, so best to put a towel down for better footing.

The staff at this hotel are very kind and welcoming, which is a big plus. Its location is also very convenient, being just 5 to 10 minutes' drive from the airport, depending on traffic. The rooms are very clean, but unfortunately, the facilities are outdated.
I encountered some issues during my stay. The shower in my first room wasn’t working properly, so I had to switch rooms. In the second room, there was no hot water, and the water pressure was very low. Additionally, the TV was not functioning. However, since I was only staying for one night, it was manageable.
Overall, while the staff and location are great, the hotel could benefit from some upgrades to its facilities.

Lovely staff and comfortable rooms. Good restaurant on site too. Only a few minutes drive from the airport.
