Casa Amalia, Town Center

The little house was well equipped and nicely decorated with attention to detail and everything we would need for a comfortable 5-night stay. It is also very well situated and just a 2 minute walk up the street from our favourite restaurant - Zeca de Bica! Everything was spotless, the bed was very comfortable and the sofa bed for the kids was also very comfy. We were greeted with bottles of wine and water and already all the basics we would need (dishwasher tablets, detergent, cleaning supplies, tea/coffee/salt/pepper/olive oil etc.). The staff at Smart Villas were also all wonderful, attentive and communicative if we had any questions or requests. They were especially lovely when we forgot some of our things behind and had to go back to collect them (!!), they were hugely helpful and understanding! We will definitely be staying here again when we're back in Tavira, it really was one of the best stays among the years and years of choosing Tavira as our holiday destination!

Jolie petite maison, de type maison de pêcheur, bien située dans un quartier typique du vieux Tavira. C'est un plaisir de se promener dans ses ruelles. On a aimé la déco chaleureuse et l'aménagement bien pensée dans les détails Chambre bien au calme et lit au top Book de la conciergerie très complet sur la région et les activités

Canapé du salon joli mais pas très confortable Espace extérieur un peu restreint ( petit patio juste pour table et chaises ) L'accès à la chambre nécessite un peu de souplesse ( il faut bien se baisser avant d'entrer dans la chambre ! ceci-dit cela ne nous a pas gêné )

The location is fantastic as it is a short walk to both sides of the river. The Pingo Doce grocery is a 5 minute walk away for all of your day to day needs. There are a multitude of dining options within walking distance. The unit is well outfitted, cute and quirky and updated to a very high standard. The 2 full bathrooms are a huge plus with one down and one up being very convenient. Heat and A/C on both levels allowed for good individual temperature control. The welcome bottles of red and white wine plus water was a real treat! Everything was as advertised and it is a great little unit for a short or long stay (we were 6 days).

The bed was a bit soft for us, there wasn't a top sheet and there was two separate comforters which was strange to us but that is a personal preference. The steep and narrow stairs to access the bedroom up can be a challenge with large suitcases. There are low doorway heights for tall people in a few places but you learn quick after a couple of head knocks but this is what it is like staying in a cool, old apartment and that's part of the charm. There weren't any shower shampoo and soap or coffee/tea supplies to start which is fairly standard for apartment stays.

We found Casa Amalía to be perfectly located in the centre of Tavira, on a very quiet residential street, just 2 minutes from an area with bars, restaurants and shops, and close to the ferry to the beach. The cottage is lovely and it is nicely redone, comfortable and sufficiently spacious with everything one needs including airco.
