Little Getaway in the Highlands, private sauna and stargazing geodome

Easy to find by car with Doug's instructions. The cabin was like a treehouse without a climb. It had birds feeders which attracted many different types of birds. The Sauna was fun. Everything necessary for a short stay was provided. The walk from the cabin to Little Garve Bridge and around the waterfalls was breath taking. Nothing to dislike. There's even a train station close by. It is exactly as described by Doug, a peaceful retreat where you can reengage with nature.

I have stayed at many self catering properties over the years including some boutique locations. This property has nearly got everything right. It provides those little essentials that prevent you buying the same things over and again - oil, salt, pepper, tea, coffee and sugar. There was a little welcome jug of milk. The knives were sharp - this sounds banal but how often do you actually find that in a rental property? The toiletries are eco friendly in refillable dispensers. The shower is GREAT. It's warm and cosy and well situated to catch the breeze to keep the midges down. The kitchen is thoughtfully constructed to make best use of the space - and we really enjoyed our first try out of an air frier. The wifi is fast and the smart TV works well. The sauna and geodome were great for relaxing after a hard day out on the hills. The place has just been built with care and love. Great location in the middle of the northern highlands. We were climbing and walking and visiting cafes in Strathcarron, Bealach an Ba, the Fannaichs, Assynt, Achnasheen. None of it felt far away. Nearest decent shop is in Dingwall - about 30 minutes drive. We saw lots of birdlife in the garden and even had an evening visit from a Pine Marten that was happy to wander around exploring right in front of us. Great communication from the host and he went out of his way to be helpful. Lots of little touches helped make it feel very welcoming with a genuinely warm greeting card from the owner.

The usual few maintenance niggles - they happen everywhere. Nothing really.

Alles! De plek, de rust, omgeving en de zeer vriendelijke host. Op 5-10 min lopen een prachtige waterval. Alles was aanwezig in de accommodatie van vaatwastabletten tot badjas en voldoende koffie tot spray tegen midges en een airfryer.
