Apartment By The Forest

We had a wonderful 10 day stay with Damjan and Mojca and couldn’t have asked for more gracious and caring hosts. From the moment we arrived, they were so friendly and welcoming, and they went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. They even left us wine, beer, and cookies, which were such a lovely and appreciated touch. At the same time, they were extremely respectful of our privacy and gave us plenty of space to enjoy our stay on our own. The property is in a beautiful, peaceful setting up in the hills, surrounded by forest, with chickens and roosters adding to the charm. The apartment itself is very clean, modern, and has all the necessities. We were in Slovenia for a rowing regatta and had bikes for the entire week, so the location was a little challenging for us — it’s about a 6 km ride to the lake, but the ride home is uphill! In the end, though, we were very happy to have stayed somewhere so beautiful and peaceful away from the town. And the hills certainly added to our workouts! What really stood out, though, was how incredibly helpful Damjan and Mojca were throughout our stay. On one particularly rainy regatta morning, I had reserved an Uber to pick us up, but no drivers were available and it was never confirmed. We were extremely stressed about missing our race, and biking wasn’t a desirable option; cycling down the hills in the rain would have been difficult and potentially dangerous. I asked if they might be able to give us a ride, and they immediately and happily agreed. At the end of our stay, Damjan kindly drove us to the train station too. We were so grateful for their generosity and kindness. They truly went above and beyond to help us, and they made our stay feel very special. They even sent us off with Slovenian souvenirs, which was such a sweet final touch. We would absolutely recommend staying here. The beautiful setting is wonderful, but it’s the warmth and generosity of Damjan and Mojca that we’ll remember most.

There wasn’t anything we disliked about the property. The location was a little hillier than we thought, which made our biking to and from our rowing regatta more challenging, but that was our fault for not fully investigating the lay of the land in advance.

We arrived very late, when it was dark, so it was difficult to see exactly where we were going and which apartment was actually ours. Luckily, and very kindly, the hosts were there to greet us. The apartment was excellent, the hosts had thought of everything, even down to the welcome and departure gestures. We were incredibly grateful.

Although well positioned, it was a bit of a journey to get to and away from any shops or restaurants so had to plan meals around that, which wasn't a problem. Very peaceful, except for the cockerel with its morning alarm clock.
