Clean, welcoming place with care for detail. In a charming little village. Good base for nature walks near Maastricht. Lovely host and excellent breakfast.

A bit on the expensive side, but that is not uncommon in Limburg.

I recently stayed at Hotel De Lange Akker in Berg en Terblijt, a small village conveniently located near Maastricht and Valkenburg. It’s one of the very limited accommodation options in the area, which makes it a practical choice if you specifically want to stay in this quiet town. The neighborhood is definitely a highlight — scenic, and perfect if you’re looking to unwind away from busy city life. The surroundings feel calm and welcoming, and it’s a great base for exploring the nearby region. Breakfast was fair: nothing particularly memorable, but adequate to start the day.

Only a few downsides. The rooms were quite cold upon arrival, and the air conditioning unit didn’t help much — it either made the room too hot or uncomfortably dry. Basic amenities were also lacking: there was no shampoo or hair dryer in the room, and you have to go to shared facilities if you need those.

The room was clean, beautifully decorated. The property has a nice garden with space where to stay and drink a coffee or whatever. The owner, Mandy was very welcoming. We should have arrived around 4 pm, but due to some issues we were delayed until after 8pm. She even called us to check when we arrive since we couldn't update her earlier about the new arrival time. They offer a diversified tasty breakfast with several types of ham, cheese, vegetables, jam, butter, cereals, milk , tea and coffee. You'd have to be too picky not to be satisfied. 🙂

The only downside is that if you want to stay longer than 2-3 days there is no wardrobe/cabinet to put your clothes, which may be uncomfortable.
