Villa Hole in One - by GoLetMalaga

Location, right on one of the two golf courses we played was perfect. Secure parking allowed us to keep our golf gear in the car overnight, no need to get it out and put it back every evening/ morning. 2 minute drive to the golf club, supermarket, bars and restaurants within a short drive. Pool was appreciated, although a little cold, garden fantastic for the sun worshippers in our party who used it quite a lot over the course of the week. All bedrooms en suite with an extra toilet/ wash basin downstairs, so never a queue for the facilities

Lack of a welcome pack was the only downside we could find. Something along the lines of: This is the number to call to contact us This is the Wi-Fi password This is how you operate the heating/ air conditioning Here's a list of local shops, bars, restaurants etc This is what to do with your rubbish (what we expect you to do with it, or leave it for our cleaners etc)

• Villa is wonderful – 4 big bedrooms all with en-suite bathrooms. Plenty of room for 6 adults and 1 child, and the A/C works really well and was a welcome relief from the heat at times. We have stayed here before some years ago and the bedrooms have had a lovely refresh. • Lovely large outside space – huge dining table and chairs, plenty of sun beds, pool is a decent size and there is a charcoal BBQ • Lots of space to park 2 cars at the front, secured by a large gate (there’s a huge garage too but not sure if that can be requested) • Nice and quiet – apart from one evening when the neighbours were having a party, but they did come and let us know and apologise in advance for any noise. Lovely to sit and watch the golfers on the courses • Not far from the local supermarkets and Mijas town, but you do need a car. • There’s a hotel and restaurant just down the road. Looks nice for a night out, but didn’t get to try. Also the golf club nearby serves food.

• Very little communication from the owner – gave them a one-hour window of arrival time, but still had to call him when we arrived as there was no one to let us in • No “general” supplies in the kitchen which we have come to expect having stayed in numerous villas over the years – no “welcome” basket, tea-towels, kitchen roll, dish cloths/scourers, foil to line oven (which was actually broken). Only one bin bag, half a bottle of washing up liquid and a few coffee machine filters. • Couldn’t work out how to work the dishwasher (maybe it was broken…). Didn’t use washing machine. Door to the second freezer was “sticky” and didn’t open easily. • Nothing for the BBQ – had to buy charcoal, fire lighters and matches • 5 toilets but only 4 toilet rolls provided / no hand soap in the bathrooms • One pane of glass was broken in one of the interior doors – let us know that he knew about it, but wondered why it hadn’t just been removed for safety • Grass was long so hadn’t been cut for our arrival, and stayed that way for the 5 days we were there • Pool man came to maintain the pool on the Friday lunchtime / early afternoon, so it was out of action for 3 hours – not ideal when the daily temp was hitting 38 degrees. • No net for general upkeep of the pool (removing leaves and dead insects) • Pool shower didn’t work and couldn’t work out how to turn on the pool lights • Be careful with the sunbeds – metal bases and arm rests get very hot in the sunshine! • No details on how to “check out”. We were ready to leave at the appropriate time, and just found the cleaners waiting to get in, so just left the keys with them. • Took 16 days to get our security deposit back – no communication from the owner as to whether there had been any issues at the property (there weren't), when the refund would clear, “thanks for staying – hope to see you again” etc.

Lack of communication on how to check in and out, if we didn't call them we wouldn't have been able to check in. The pool shower was broken and there was pool lights but with no way to turn them on - we asked question but the host rarely responds. As it's just recently been put on the site, there were lacking basic neccesities such as toiletries.
