The boathouse itself was aesthetically very nice and accurately depicted in the listing. It is situated right on the water in a cute fishing village and was recently renovated. The hosts were also very friendly and accommodating, including allowing me to check in early.

Unfortunately, there were a significant number of mosquitoes inside the unit. I stayed for two nights and killed over 40 mosquitoes — genuinely not an exaggeration. I was also bitten repeatedly while sleeping, including five bites on my face. I completely understand that the property is a boathouse directly on the water, so some mosquitoes may be expected. However, the number of mosquitoes inside the unit made the experience quite unpleasant, and I think this is important for future guests to be aware of. I would suggest that the hosts consider installing a mosquito net over the bed and/or taking additional measures to prevent mosquitoes from entering the unit. It may also be helpful to clearly inform guests that the door should not be left open with the curtain closed, as this may allow a significant number of mosquitoes into the unit. Because the unit is located directly on a public beach, guests should also expect other tourists to be right in front of the house. I had to ask several people to kindly move so that I could open the door. Additionally, the power went out in the village in the middle of the night, causing the AC to stop working and the bedroom to become quite hot. I was told by the host that power outages in the village can occur in the middle of the night. Finally, there is only one restaurant in the village, which is essentially a bar shack with limited food options. If you want additional dining choices, you will need to drive approximately 10–15 minutes to another area. Unfortunately, taking all of these factors into consideration, I did not feel that the experience was worth the cost.
