Stay Passport Sindang Ryokan

I did not use this room because I had another booking which was used. This booking was not supposed to have been made. I recieved notification that the booking could not be confirmed and was therefore canceled. After looking into the details a bit and being told everywhere it lead me, yes this has been canceled, the booking could not be confirmes, I made a new booking (exactly the same), and then AFTER I had bought and paid for the new booking, the first sent a confirmation email. I tried to get one canceled and refunded because thats bs, was told "we cant do that, reach out to the property" for all the time after this until I got to the hotel, I tried repeatedly to get one canceled and refunded, but the property would not respond to me and agoda repeatedly refused to do anything saying i needed to contact them. When I got to the property to check in, I still had not recieved any word back, so I tried to get assistance in person. There's no one there. No reception. Only an intercom with people on the other side who speak very limited english. We ended up communicating via google translate on the check in screen, but ultimately they told me "we cant do anything about that, it needs to be canceled and refunded through agoda". So now I'm still trying to get help, to no avail, with nearly $800 down the drain all because this stupid app messed up and gave me the wrong information. I'm incredibly pissed off.

We stayed for about 2 weeks and this was our 3rd time visiting Seoul that said I can only recommend Sindang. The Ryokan was cozy and comfortable and the tub was high point of our first day fighting the jetlag. The neighborhood is charming and not so touristy which in my opinion is very good, there are delicious restaurants and a market nearby the Ryokan

We enjoyed our stay here. The place was clean, cozy, quiet, and beautifully decorated. We enjoyed the hot tub every night and appreciated the complimentary makgeoli. The bed was comfortable and the AC was working perfectly. The place being next to a local market gave us an option to explore the area, and we were able to park next to the building. I was initially skeptical of not having the on-site staff, but I was able to reach them without an issue via the communication system by the entrance kiosk.

No elecator. The room was very nice, but very crowded. It was not the 2 double bed room with a decorative pole that I had expected based on the photos of the room I booked, but it was still quite pretty, and was relatively clean (minus the bath and the teapot which smelled of mold). The exit light by the door is very bright and needed to be covered in order to not bother us during our sleep. Our key card would not let us into the building, so we had to call for assistance through the overcom any time we wanted to come back into the building. There are no on location staff except for a cleaning person, so its very difficult to deal with any problems related to bookings or the room in general. Theres not really anywhere to put luggage other that right in front of the door or on the bath. The bath was quite dirty and took nearly 2 hours to fill it to a level were the water went up to our ribs (taking into account this is with 2 adults in the bath. It probably would've taken an hour or more to reach that level without anyone in the bath). One small bar of handsoap, and very small bottles of shampoo/conditioner/bodywash, so not good for more than a 2-3 day stay. There are extra towels, toilet paper, tissue and water bottles available downstairs, but restocking is entirely on you and you also have to remove your own garbage from the room before you leave. This is by no means a ryokan, and felt more like I was being put up in someone's apartment while they were gone (with little soap). It would be nice for a day or two and ultimately it is a nice looking place, but otherwise this stay frustrated me and my partner immensely.
