The Area
Gunnislake used to be amongst the richest mining areas in Europe and is now in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, offering lots of trails and walks for you to explore historic mining sites and the stunning landscape in the area.
The cottage is on the Devon and Cornwall border, surrounded by beautiful towns of the two counties and perfect for exploring both the North and South coasts. We are a 3-minute drive from the Gunnislake train station and only 10 minutes from the breathtaking Dartmoor National Park, 40 minutes from the picturesque seaside town of Looe and an hour from the golden beaches in Newquay. Plymouth and Exeter are 30 minutes and an hour away.
Gunnislake itself is a small village with the usual amenities - a shop, post office and a pub. Our nearest town Tavistock is a 10-minute drive away. It’s a beautiful market town with cafes, charity shops, takeaways, Tesco and Morrisons.
