Beautifully and tastefully restored and maintained in beautiful countryside location. Comfortable and cosy.
It wasn’t an issue for us, but some might wish to know there isn’t room in the smithy for a dining table. There are stools around the kitchen island to eat. Won’t be an issue for most—we ate out anyway or comfortably in the living room.

Quaint, quiet, quirky!
Bathroom was small and drains gave out an odour.

Slight fly issue, maybe due to the little river right next to the property. A blue light was already provided & a can of fly spray. Maybe an additional pole to have a voile like the upstairs bedroom to be optional to pull across at the patio doors on enable having them open and restrict fly entering.

The cottage bedrooms, bathroom and photographs indicated that The Smithy would serve ourselves and two close friends well - in effect our expectations were very much exceeded. The cottage was beautifully presented to provide high quality furniture, beds & bedding with excellent wi-fi and a fully equipped kitchen & utility room. The bedrooms were spacious and both bathrooms included personal items - such as soaps & high quality towels and flannels (including one for make-up!). The decor was tasteful - and quirky (which suits our preference) with framed property specific documents, photographs and prints of the local area, as well as ornaments and pottery relevant to the history of the cottage. There was also a helpful folder containing current and relevant information which gave helpful local knowledge to ensure we could orientate in the first few days of our stay. So many memories were developed during our stay - we really couldn’t find a negative aspect…… Our surprise at finding bread, milk, eggs, butter, fruit juice and fresh fruit was also worthy of report - the numerous little details provided by Carrie & Mark showed their passion for the property and commitment to their guests.
The heatwave with no coastal breezes (which we are accustomed to) took some adjustment and the owners did provide fans to help which is a further example of their commitment to us as guests.
