AMAZING PENTHOUSE FOR SIX person

Pros: Overall Great Facility! Convenience: Property is 3 blocks from the main highway/beach; 20-minutes to Acropolis via Uber-Taxi; 40 minutes by public bus. (We were a party of 4 adults, so we used Uber-taxi for all transportation needs.) Also, about 4 blocks away are numerous cafes, grocery express markets, fruit stall, and restaurants. We especially liked two restaurants within walking distance: Emagie (Delicious, big portions, and good value; 13 mins walk) and O Mpakalis (good quality, more expensive but closer, 8 mins walk). Large size bedrooms, living room, and reliable AC in each room: Comfortable for 4-6 people, especially compared with European standard: King, Queen, and 2 twins. The mattresses were very comfortable. The ACs work well with remote. Caveats: The master bedroom (king) has an alcove for a toilet and hand sink, though closed by a curtain (not a door). No shelf provided to hold toothbrush, much less toiletry bag. Our friends posted a chair outside the curtain. Another bathroom is located near the two other bedrooms. It contains a rain + hand showers, another toilet, and vanity sink with ledge. Impressive wraparound terrace with sliding door entrance from each bedroom: We spent most of our time lounging here, listening to birds and enjoying the breeze from trees around. Peekaboo ocean view. Sliding doors have noise insulation and darkening panels for a quiet night sleep. (Tip: Crank up the outside shades if they make noise because of wind.) Fridge, microwave and stove work well! (No toaster for bread.)

Cons: General Nonchalance from Host. Lack of guest arrival awareness: We arrived at the property at 10:15 am and waited 45 minutes to reach the host for the lockbox code. We had warned the host about our early arrival. Some of us didn’t have cellular and had to search for a café with internet service to text and WhatsApp host. A few mosquito bites later, the host answered with lockbox code. Suggest sharing the access code a day or two prior to arrival date for greater peace of mind. Stingy: One roll of toilet paper (TP) was provided for each bathroom plus a couple of small leftover rolls from past guests. (Toilet doesn’t have much pressure and has limited water - to be expected with older buildings. Instructions included disposal of toilet paper in waste basket. If that’s the case, provision of more TP shouldn’t be an issue.); One body towel and hand towel per person (no face towel); one pillow per person per bed. Middle bedroom (Queen) still has a loud squeaky door: As mentioned in past reviews but ignored by host. Loud squeaks wake up other people at night, especially to use the common bathroom. This is an easy fix with few drops of WD-40 oil on door hinges. Hot water and shower issues: Hot water needs to be turned on prior to guest arrival – or at least, instructions to be provided for guest to turn on the hot water circuit breaker, e.g., written in the house logistics or instruction sheet. Hot water either runs on many sunny days or from the electric circuit breaker to be turned “on”. Less important issue: Slow drainage in the shower pan (as mentioned in past review and not fixed). This might be more difficult to fix though the water does eventually drain away. There is only one complete set of keys, which includes the keys for building door, apt door, and a key card for turning on/off all the electricity in apt. However, the host (in this case) did listen to past reviews and provided an extra key for building entry.

Nice size bedrooms. Good air conditioning. Close to Marina for sailing charter.

The laundry machine might ready for an update. It didn’t spin out the water for us .

Apartment was spacious, well equipped, clean. Very good location - the beach is near, grocery shops are near, restaurants are near, bus and tram stops are near. Quiet neighborhood. Wonderful balcony. Perfect for families.
