Foresters Cottage, Dalry

This is an amazing house. Some say that a property is secluded, yet it may have another house in view. Not Foresters Cottage. This lovely rural property is nestled down in a private garden adjacent to the Blair Castle Estate. It sits behind and below the ancient estate wall with only a small drive opening to access the house. The garden is completely enclosed by bushes and trees on three sides with a trickling burn across the bottom. Wonderful!

When entering and exiting the steep drive in the dark, guests need to be careful as the wall entrance is a narrow opening. Best to have a second person on the opposite side of the opening guiding the car in and out.

The location was perfect for our needs. Visiting family in Kilmarnock hospital and Kilbirnie. Perfectly situated for a coastal drive. Although we didn’t meet the hosts we felt well looked after and catered for. The cottage Really is a home from home. The cottage and garden is beautiful and will recommend it to our friends and family for their visits. We enjoyed the silence and babbling brook. (If staying with small children they would need to be well supervised). The beds are very comfortable. Had best nights sleep for a long time.

There wasn’t anything we didn’t like. The drive entrance is quite a difficult manoeuvre for a biggish car. The EV charging point is an old one and not compatible for our EV. But this would have been a bonus and we didn’t make the booking on the strength of that. There are plenty of charging stations in Ayrshire.
